We are seeking a Director of Finance that possesses general accounting skills to perform a wide variety of tasks for our growing investment management company. The Director of Finance will be a self-starter and will interact directly with our senior leadership and third-party service providers. The position requires you to be an assertive self-starter and a proactive problem solver. The Candidate will possess strong accounting skills and demonstrate the ability to grow their technical expertise and level of responsibility.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Opening and maintaining entity bank accounts.
- Review and process invoices for investment manager and joint ventures related expenditures and set up payments via the Company's banking portal for release by Managing Director.
- Process payroll with third-party payroll service providers and set up new employees, as needed.
- Assist with cash forecasting needs.
- Work with the Managing Director on coordinating and reviewing closing statements and sources and uses relating to new acquisitions.
- Assist with limited partner onboarding, which includes ownership calculations, reporting, and distribution preferences.
- Compute and process cash distributions to limited partners.
- Review and approve property level monthly and quarterly accounting closings prepared by third-party property accountants and/or accounting services provider.
- Liaise with third-party accounting service providers regarding joint venture investments.
- Coordinate and facilitate the preparation and delivery of annual audits and tax filings for all joint ventures and legal entities with third-party tax and accounting service providers.
- Assist with lender reporting and escrow account draw requests.
- Oversee corporate entity management.
- Assist with special projects, as needed.
Required/Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience.
- Experience at a real estate company or at a public accounting firm preferred.
- Knowledge of commercial and multi-family residential real estate accounting is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency in Excel.
- Ability to understand and communicate ideas clearly and effectively both verbally and in written communications.
- Self-directed and motivated.
- Demonstrate a flexible and adaptable work style that can prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments independently or as part of a team, and meet deadlines.
