Director-Food & Beverage Full-Time with Competitive Salary Anticipated Start Date: March 3, 2025***Review of applications will begin on January 6th with the position open until filled***Full Job Description:This position will direct and manage all food and beverage operations at The Birdcage, home of the Sioux Falls Canaries, while developing a department-wide culture that practices extraordinary external and internal customer service. Daily responsibilities include, but not limited to, ensuring customer satisfaction, managing culinary operations, supervising food service delivery, and managing the food and beverage budget. In addition, the Director will embrace the core values of the Sioux Falls Canaries including but not limited to: Integrity, Trust, Accountability and Execution.Primary Responsibilities:
- Establish standard operating procedures that are aligned with both operational and financial objectives
- Be knowledgeable of all codes and laws as required by the various government regulatory agencies
- Monitor product quality, sales and overall financial progress with the ability to institute necessary changes to ensure consistent performance
- Negotiate with reliable suppliers for high-quality products and equipment
- Meet or exceed budgeted or planned financial outcomes
- Retain and recruit food and beverage staff
- Manage and coordinate all scheduling, training, and development of associates, staff and volunteers within food and beverage
- Serve as a resource and provide solutions to direct report supervisors and associates
- Ensure that food preparation and sanitation standards/codes are met by all food and beverage staff and ensure compliance with all state requirements. This includes being prepared for all health inspections
- Implement and maintain a service and management philosophy that serves as a guide to all food and beverage staff
- Research and development of new policies, procedures, and control policies that elevate service standards and accountability of staff
- Maintain positive client and guest/fan relations
- Respond to client requests and ensure alignment to the highest company standards
- Work with the Team President and General Manager to plan and develop suite and concession menus
- Develop and maintain reports on game/event reports and COG's
- Manage and oversee food and beverage POS system
- Complete and maintain all necessary food and beverage certifications
- Oversee food and beverage operations and attend all Canaries home baseball games- 50 regular season games and any postseason games
- Oversee food and beverage operations for contracted non-baseball events and attend these events when the Canaries are responsible for providing food and beverage service
- Other duties as assigned by the Team President/General Manager
Qualifications
- Strong customer service skills and ability to assess and improve guest experiences
- Budgeting and financial management skills
- Strong culinary skills and ability to manage food preparation and menu planning
- Experience in food service and/or concessions and knowledge of food and beverage operations with 2+ years in a leadership/management role (preferred)
- Experience working in a stadium or similar venue setting (preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Food Service Management or related field (preferred)
