Overview

A San Francisco-based investment management firm is looking to appoint a Director to join its Client Team.

Candidates for this role will be experienced client service/fundraising professionals who have been integral to successful fundraising teams with demonstrated fund-raising track-record and experience in raising Listed Equity

The ideal candidate will also have established relationships with major institutional clients (e.g. pensions, foundations, endowments, single and multi-family office groups). Candidates do not need to have experience in sustainable investing, but will share the firm's interest in, and commitment to, sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Expanding the firm's base of business via new business development / capital formation in North America.

Identification of new business prospects and cross sale candidates

Development and execution of strategic plan (in general and by investor)

Mastering of content related to firm messaging and investment strategies

Partnering with the Client Team on group goals and initiatives

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Track record of raising capital and appreciation of fund-raising environment: must demonstrate a proven effectiveness in fund-raising Listed Equity strategies.

Interpersonal and Relationship building skills: will have a track record of building excellent relationships with key clients as well as key internal stakeholders. They will exhibit gravitas and the capability to develop strong commercial relationships with sophisticated institutional clients. They will conduct discussions with clients at a senior level to understand business needs and develop ways to build business with new clients.

Partnership orientation: will influence and collaborate with colleagues within the firm. They will share perspectives and debate at a strategic level with colleagues and possess a strong fiduciary mind-set towards managing institutional client assets.

Sustainability literacy and conviction: will be able to articulate why sustainability is central to the firm's ‘world-view' and to the Firm's ability to generate strong risk-adjusted returns. They will display a high degree of personal, as well as professional, conviction about the merits of the firm's distinctive approach to sustainable capitalism and investment management.

Person Specification

Intellectual curiosity, inquisitiveness and capability: will understand, appreciate, communicate and debate the macro-economic drivers associated with exploiting investment opportunities (and avoiding investment risks) in the move towards sustainable capitalism. They will be able to understand and share the firm's extensive IP and use this as a key basis on which to differentiate the firm, building trusted relationships with major clients.

Strong Presentation and Communication Skills: will have the ability to credibly carry a room; the ability to present and persuade at the CIO and investment committee levels; strong presence and gravitas; the ability to listen and clearly articulate strategy and differentiating qualities; strong writing skills to be used in developing marketing documents and writing insightful call reports on meetings and interactions with prospective and existing investors. The firm has strong and differentiated IP and thought leadership to leverage and share with clients and the successful candidate will be able to use this advantage with clients.
