Director of GIS ProductsSidwell - RemoteThe Sidwell Company is recruiting for a remote-based position of Director of Product and Innovation to help drive our current solutions forward while developing a technology roadmap for the future. This exciting and highly integral position requires that the successful candidate possesses a solid background in building desktop and cloud-based products that leverage Esri-based technology with a strong understanding of the practical deployment of Esri solutions within local government organizations. This individual will be hands-on and anticipatory in their thinking and provide significant value to the business unit through the effective use of technology while still jumping in to code.

As a Director, the successful candidate will have experience in strategic planning and execution of the technical direction of an organization. This role will have direct reports, peers, and colleagues that assist in delivery of the responsibilities outlined below.

The key technology areas for this role to oversee: Product Technological Roadmap, Architecture, Planning and Delivery, Front-End Applications and Data Engineering.

This position is budgeted for a starting salary between $90,000-105,000/year based on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Own technology standards, architectural direction, technical documentation, and quality of the code
  • Manage all technology projects and programs including reporting to stakeholders
  • Collaborate on the development of technology and business transformation roadmaps
  • Successful execution of the roadmaps
  • Manage multiple requests through a technology intake and prioritization process
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration by making the process fully transparent to the entire organization
  • Enhance product innovation and solutions through consistent alignment with stakeholders
  • Responsible for timely project status and departmental cost analysis
  • Maintain the highest levels of security, promoting a culture and practice of security awareness

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Esri ArcGIS technologies and concepts including:
    • ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Solutions and Applications
    • Esri ArcGIS Maps for JavaScript 4.x
    • Esri ArcGIS Pro SDK 3.x
    • Intermediate/Advanced Python and/or Arcade knowledge
    • Publishing and administering ArcGIS services
    • Configuring an Esri application such as WebApp Builder, Field Maps, Survey123, and Experience Builder.
    • Upgrading and transitioning to new versions of Esri software and applications.
  • 3+ years with Microsoft SQL Server and an understanding of database design and administration
  • Proven experience participating in technology decisions and development in the software industry
  • 3+ years managing/participating in product development: design, architecture, deployment, testing and security experience
  • 3+ years experience with web and cloud technologies such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
  • Desire to participate in strategic and innovative thinking.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of Esri technology, best practices and use cases
  • Knowledge and practicing Agile/SCRUM methodology
  • Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) and Async/await development patterns
  • Experience working with local government; knowledge of processes in multiple departments
  • Understanding and embracing that customers drive our development and solution
  • Web applications, SOA, web service RESTful development and deployment, JSON format
  • Proficiency with cloud technologies, Serverless architecture, Microservice design, Docker/Podman and containerized applications
