Job Location: Manchester, CTJob Summary:Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Human Resources will be responsible for the employee experience during the entire employment life cycle, leading to positive outcomes for employees that will, in turn, benefit our mission and the individuals we support.Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervise assigned Human Resources Generalist.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program that attracts and retains dedicated employees.
  • Oversee the Staff Training Coordinator to prepare employees for work assignments through an orientation and training program.
  • Work closely with supervisors to create, implement and track performance reviews.
  • Work closely with the management team to support them with the progressive discipline process, including tracking and consistency.
  • Assist with employee suspensions and terminations, including resignations, performance-related dismissals, and lay-offs.
  • Communicate and work with the Union to hear and resolve employee grievances.
  • Establish an employee appreciation initiative to encourage employee retention. Work with staff on team-building skills.
  • Maintain human resource records in accordance with state and federal law.
  • Maintain and administer employee benefit programs.
  • Maintain and administer workers' compensation claims and all other Leave of Absence requests.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings.
  • Maintain professional knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing peer networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be highly organized, and work well with others.
  • Advanced technology and computer ability.
  • Must be able to communicate with individuals at all professional levels effectively.
  • Must know human resources principles and practices.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Products
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Labor Relations or related field is preferred.
  • Supervisory/Management experience required.
  • Experience working with people who are intellectually/developmentally disabled preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, walking.
  • Ability to bend, push, pull and lift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
