For over 50 years, HAPCAP has empowered Southeast Ohioans through transformative programs that address the causes and conditions of poverty. With more than 30 initiatives, we offer support in areas such as children and family services, career development, transportation, community development, payment assistance, housing, health services, and more. We also proudly operate the SE Ohio Foodbank.

We are seeking an inspirational and strategic HR leader to join our team as the Director of Human Resources. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this position will play a pivotal role in driving our mission and fostering a culture that supports our team, partners, and the community.

The Opportunity

As the Director of Human Resources, you will lead the charge in positioning HAPCAP as an Employer of Choice within our community. Your leadership will empower our workforce, enhance employee engagement, and contribute to the overall success of our team and mission.

What You Will Do

  • Shape Organizational Culture: Cultivate a workplace culture of respect, collaboration, and teamwork among staff, volunteers, and partners.
  • Strategic Leadership: Align HR strategies with organizational objectives and mission-driven goals.
  • Employee Relations: Provide support and guidance for employee relations, fostering trust and a sense of belonging.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Research and recommend competitive compensation and benefits to attract and retain top talent.
  • Ensure Compliance: Stay up-to-date and ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Talent Acquisition: Lead recruitment efforts to attract mission-driven and high-performing professionals.
  • Management Support: Coach and equip managers with tools to effectively lead and inspire their teams.
  • Benefit Administration: Oversee employee benefits, including health, dental, vision, 401(k), and other programs.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Experience: 5-10 years of HR management experience, ideally in a nonprofit setting.
  • Certifications: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Expertise: Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Mission Alignment: Passion for addressing poverty and hunger within our community.
  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and build trust.
  • Integrity: High levels of confidentiality, ethical judgment, and accountability.
