A healthcare organization in New York City is seeking an experienced Director of Infection Control (RN) to lead the development and implementation of its infection prevention and control program. This leadership role requires a strong background in epidemiology, regulatory compliance, and clinical practice to drive organizational improvements and ensure a safe healthcare environment.Responsibilities:The Director of Infection Control (RN) will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the design and implementation of the infection prevention and control program in collaboration with the Chief Quality Officer
- Co-chairing the Infection Control Committee with the Chief of Infectious Disease and driving improvement initiatives
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies such as NYCDOHMH, NYSDOH, CDC, and other agencies
- Analyzing surveillance data and preparing reports for committees and stakeholders
- Providing leadership to Infection Preventionists in managing outbreaks and recommending control measures
- Developing, reviewing, and updating infection control policies across departments and services
- Collaborating with hospital leaders to implement evidence-based infection control practices
- Acting as a resource for clinical and ancillary staff regarding barrier precautions and infection control strategies
- Monitoring trends in multi-drug resistant organisms in partnership with the Laboratory team
- Facilitating root cause analyses of infection-related events and developing corrective action plans
- Coordinating mandatory reporting to NHSN, including HAIs, SSIs, MRSA, CLABSIs, CAUTIs, and other conditions
- Partnering with Occupational Health on the prevention and management of employee exposures
- Advising on infection control considerations for new construction or renovations
- Ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), CMS, and other regulatory standards
- Participating in educational initiatives, product evaluations, and performance improvement activities
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in infection control, infectious diseases, or epidemiology within clinical settings
- 5-10 years of supervisory, teaching, or administrative experience
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC)
- Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills
- Proven experience in overseeing infection prevention and control programs
