POSITION DETAILS

Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Strategy, the Director of Institutional Research provides strategic, managerial, organizational, and operational leadership over the Office of Institutional Research. The Director will manage the institutional data request processes, participate as an active member of institutional bodies, and provide technical and disciplinary expertise to facilitate evidence-based decision-making and promote a culture of inquiry at the College. This individual will work closely with other members of the Institutional Effectiveness and Strategy Division to support strategic planning, assessment, programmatic evaluation, predictive analysis, and regional accreditation. The successful candidate will also lead an office responsible for internal and external surveying, data collection, analysis, dissemination, and the expansion of data visualization, dashboards, and Power BI capabilities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the strategic direction and operational management of the College's data management, governance, and analytics functions, ensuring effective leadership and alignment with institutional goals.
  • Leads the collection, analysis, and dissemination of comprehensive institutional information to the college community and external reporting agencies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provides strategic leadership by collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team, President's Leadership Team, College Governance, and other institutional bodies, supporting decision-making, strategic planning, outcomes assessment, and accreditation processes.
  • Ensures the leveraging and growth of innovative institutional analytics practices through data visualization, dashboards, and data mining tools.
  • Maintains strategic leadership and accountability for annual institutional and external surveys and compliance requirements.
  • Directs a variety of institutional data and analytics systems and resources.
  • Provides training and support to faculty and staff regarding institutional research functions, data governance, and compliance mandates.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and eight years of related experience required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • A master's, professional, or terminal degree in a relevant field (social science, data science, computer science, etc.);
  • Three or more years of managing professional and/or support staff with a commitment to professional development;
  • Experience in a higher education setting, preferably public institutions;
  • Expertise in institutional analytics and data governance;
  • Documented experience in institutional research;
  • Experience with SPSS or SAS applications;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and data visualization tools;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with R, SQL, or other programming languages;
  • Experience with database management;
  • A track record of developing and maintaining networks and working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external constituencies;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • A commitment to diversity; and
  • Excellent planning, time management, and delegation skills.

Directs institutional research programs and contributes to academic program planning, evaluation, and related activities.

  • Works collaboratively with senior management on assessment issues, including institutional effectiveness measures.
  • Designs and oversees research efforts with an institutional scope and assists departments with focused research needs.
  • Coordinates program reviews and accreditation reporting.
  • Manages institutional research data systems and resources.
  • Maintains standard management information and official statistics for reporting.
  • Develops procedures to support analytical, planning, and assessment functions.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$115,333 - 129,310, salary commensurate with education and experience.
