Responsibilities of Director of Maintenance and Housekeeping:
- Maintains preventive maintenance schedules using an electronic facility management system.
- Repairs physical structures, maintains utility systems of building, and maintains grounds. Supervises support staff and contractors, as applicable. Installs, services, and repairs mechanical equipment.
- Possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose and repair the above systems.
- Provides leadership and guidance to the housekeeping staff through ongoing supervision, staffing support and education.
- Ability to accept and exhibit the responsibility to make sound management decisions.
- Ability to work flexible hours and report to work within 20 minutes for urgent situations.
- Maintain work area free of hazardous conditions, i.e., spills, excessive supplies, equipment, etc.
- Maintain work and storage areas in a clean, neat, sanitary, and safe condition.
Requirements of Director of Maintenance and Housekeeping:
- High school diploma or GED required or equivalent related work experience.
- Willingness to perform a variety of simple repetitive tasks, many of which will involve unpleasant conditions.
- Practical knowledge of day-to-day cleaning in a long-term care facility.
- Highest level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative and make independent decisions.
- Ability to deal with new tasks without the benefit of written procedures.
- Approachable, flexible, and adaptable to change.
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
- Function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with staff and vendors.
