The Company is in search of a Director of Major Gifts to play a pivotal role in advancing its philanthropic mission. The successful candidate will be responsible for cultivating and securing major and lead gifts, with a strong emphasis on building deep, one-on-one relationships with donors and prospects. This position demands a passionate and results-driven individual who can effectively communicate the impact of the organization's work and engage in direct, face-to-face conversations to secure support. The Director will work closely with the Chief Development Officer, leadership, and the Board of Trustees to develop and execute a comprehensive major gifts strategy that aligns with the organization's goals. Essential job functions include supporting individual fundraising efforts, closing five, six, and seven-figure gifts, and managing a fundraising portfolio to ensure long-term financial sustainability.Applicants for the Director of Major Gifts position at the company should possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a preference for an advanced degree in a related field. A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in fundraising, sales, or business development, with a proven track record in securing major gifts, is required. The role demands a candidate with strong fundraising knowledge, excellent relationship-building skills, and the ability to think strategically. Proficiency in donor management software and CRM tools is essential, as is the ability to travel extensively for donor meetings and organizational events. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader, adept at problem-solving, and have exceptional written and verbal communication skills to craft compelling narratives and deliver persuasive asks. Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment is preferred, but not mandatory.
