The Director of Manufacturing, under the direction of the Executive Vice President of Operations, coordinates the efforts of the entire production operation. In this capacity, the Director of Manufacturing prepares and administers the production budget, oversees the materials investment, and managesthe Production staff.ORGANIZATIONAL SUPERVISION, REPORTING, AND INTERFACEThe position reports to the Executive Vice President of Operations, works directly with the Manufacturing Manager and Production Supervisors, and interfaces with Engineering, Production Control, Quality Assurance, and other associates at all levels within the Peterson Manufacturing organization.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinating and directing Peterson's production activities in Tool & Press, Assembly, and Paint areas so that they properly support the corporations' objectives and at the same time, cultivate a teamwork culture in which everyone is engaged.Overseeing the professional and personal training and development of the organization's supervisor, by establishing goals and objectives and monitoring their attainment.Proposing the purchase of capital equipment needed to support approved projects that are derived from the overall corporate business plan.Using forecast data to establish/monitor Peterson's production plan and capacity planning activities and making modifications to these plans based on work requirements.Monitoring the organization's inventories against the business plan and assisting in the establishment of inventory policies.Ensuring processes are in compliance with all regulatory requirements and all reasonable efforts are taken to provide a safe and healthy work environment.SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREDMust have above-average ability to deal with individuals at all company levels.Must have effective oral and written communication skills and demonstrated leadership qualities.They must understand production processes, coordinate the purchase of manufacturing equipment, and identify and eliminate waste.Experience with Surface Mount Technology and Ultrasonic Welding would be a plus.Must be able to work independently and within a team.Must be detail-oriented and organized.Must be able to work on many different projects at one time.Possesses an attitude conducive to meeting deadlines.Possess a cooperative attitude.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSBachelor of Art or Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.Eight or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment.Experience in all production areas. A thorough understanding of the safety lighting industry would be a plus.ENVIRONMENTDuties are performed indoors at the corporate offices in Grandview, MO.Must be able to remain stationary 30% of the time.The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery, use stairs or elevators to access offices on other floors of the building, etc.The person in this position needs to frequently walk around the production floor.Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer printer, and phone.The person in this position frequently communicates with others (internal and external) who may have various inquiries, etc. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.#J-18808-Ljbffr
