Director of Membership

As the Director of Membership, you will spearhead the launch and growth of Boardroom's new membership business unit, driving its success as a cornerstone of the brand. This role requires a visionary leader to develop the overall strategic direction of the Membership Club, drive membership growth, oversee a small working team, design and drive the application and approval process, and maintain strong relationships with current members and strategic partners to ensure continued engagement and satisfaction. You will collaborate closely with the management team to uphold the exclusive and value-driven brand image of Boardroom.

Key Responsibilities

Foundation & Operations

• Build an effective and cohesive Membership Department for an elite private club
• Develop an innovative and effective recruiting strategy and application process
• Leverage personal network to recruit members and strategic partners
• Work with the executive team to build a robust membership experience that includes programming, networking, perks, and beyond
• Oversee internal systems including the digital application process and membership portal
• Manage membership P&L, reporting to the CFO and executive team

Membership Application & Approval Process

• Manage the membership application process, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and promptly
• Collaborate with the membership committee to present and review membership applications for approval
• Ensure year 1 members are diversified with various backgrounds to ensure a high-quality and engaged membership base
• Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion of sensitive membership information.

Member Relations

• Build and maintain relationships with members, partners, and all external constituencies
• Build and implement member ongoing communication strategy
• Work closely with the events director on exclusive member programming and overall member experience
• Implement retention strategies to ensure members renew their memberships on time
• Monitor member feedback to gather insights for continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Extensive membership experience (10+ years); new club opening experience is a plus
• Experience creating and overseeing budgets
• Experience managing and building teams
• A data-driven approach to membership with the ability to interpret and strategize based on performance metrics
• Expertise in selling, marketing, and retaining memberships
• Knowledge of cultural trends, insights, and consumer behavior as it pertains to membership
• Extensive network with prospective like-minded business partners and members
• Experience working with a CRM or club marketing software
• Acute understanding of desirable member programming and perks
• Exceptional communication and writing skills
• Deep relationships and personal interest in the sports and entertainment world is a plus
