What you'll do:
Ethic is looking for an emerging People Operations leader with a generalist or business partner background who thrives in a player-coach role. You'll be responsible for managing our progressive and mission-oriented People Operations team, while partnering closely with our leadership team. More specifically you will own;
* People team leadership
* Manage our People Operations team, including partnering with leadership on the People Team org design
* Run the goal setting and sprint planning process for the People Operations team
* Manage the People Team budget
* Relationship management - Build strong relationships across the organization while deeply understanding the different styles and needs of our various team
* Talent development - Co-design and implement initiatives/systems unique to our business that ensure our people are continuously learning and developing in their careers with the support of our fractional Chief People Officer
* Business partnering - Deeply understand Ethic's business and act as a hands on business partner to our various teams
* Systems design - Utilize your strong relationships and knowledge of our business to co-design, implement and iterate on People systems and processes (e.g. recruiting, total rewards, performance mgmt)
* People team strategy - Partner with executive team members to develop, clarify, evangelize and iterate on our core the People Ops philosophies that guide our work (total rewards, performance mgmt, people mgmt, company principles etc.)
* Team experience - Partner with People experience team to ensure a unique and positive team experience through intentional and systematic touch points throughout the employee journey
* Sustainability & DEI - Partner with our Leadership, Sustainability and People Operations teams to integrate sustainability and DEI into all People operations/systems/initiatives
* Talent acquisition - Manage our recruiting function with a focus on metrics & insights, process improvement, communication and high quality candidate experience with support a fractional recruiting and operations staff
* Legal & compliance - Utilize your knowledge of employment law to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
* Operations - Oversee the management of the day-to-day operations including the suite of tools (HRIS, ATS etc.), immigration work and benefits administration with the support of the People Ops team

What you'll bring to the table:
* 10+ years of experience in forward thinking organizations
* 3+ years of experience growing and managing a team
* Proven track record of leading complex and highly cross-functional projects and initiatives with successful outcomes
* Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and industry standards.
* Experience designing, implementing and maintaining org wide systems/programs such as total rewards, performance management or learning & development
* Experience partnering with leaders and managers to solve people-related problems
* Experience with HRIS and data analytics tools, with a demonstrated ability to leverage data for strategic decision-making
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and influence at all levels of the organization
* A demonstrated commitment and passion for advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in all parts of your work
The ideal candidate will have:
* A combination of start-up and mid to large firm experience within technology companies
* A bachelor's degree in HR or Business Administration
* HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR), in progress or willing to pursue
* Experience in financial or fintech organizations is a plus

Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation at Ethic is a combination of base salary, equity (stock options) in the company, and benefits.
The base salary for this role will range from $180,000-$210,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
