Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of People Services to lead our Co-worker Relations programs and functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare and union environments, with a focus on improving employee relations, talent management, and organizational culture. Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will oversee the development and execution of co-worker relations programs, policies, and practices, contributing to a supportive and compliant workplace. Key responsibilities include:
- Co-worker Relations Strategy: Formulate and implement program goals and objectives to strengthen co-worker relations and enhance organizational culture.
- Policy and Procedure Development: Develop, review, and recommend HR policies, procedures, and programs that ensure compliance and foster a family-friendly work environment.
- Talent Management: Lead staffing and recruitment efforts, collaborating with senior leadership to align recruitment, hiring, and retention strategies with company goals.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and guide HR staff in administering recruitment, selection, and employee development programs.
- Training & Development: Oversee the creation and delivery of in-service training and educational assistance programs aimed at improving productivity and skill development.
- Problem Resolution: Investigate workplace issues, including disciplinary actions, grievances, and working conditions, providing strategic recommendations for resolution.
- Budget Management: Develop and present the HR department's operating budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Performance Management: Evaluate employee performance and recommend actions related to hiring, promotions, terminations, disciplinary actions, and commendations.
- Onboarding & Recruitment: Direct new employee onboarding processes, ensuring smooth transitions and aligning recruitment strategies with departmental needs.
- Leadership Communication: Provide high-level training and communication on HR policies and practices to director and manager-level associates.
- Union Relations: Leverage union experience to navigate and manage union-related issues within the workplace.
Qualifications
Must-Haves
- Healthcare Experience: Proven experience in healthcare settings, understanding the unique dynamics of healthcare HR needs.
- Union Experience: Solid background in managing union relationships and understanding of labor agreements.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources, or Public Relations from an accredited college or university.
Nice-to-Haves
- Certifications: SPHR or SHRM-SCP certifications are preferred.
- Advanced Education: A master's degree in human resources or a related field is highly preferred.
