Job Description :

The Boone County History & Culture Center is seeking a dynamic, experienced Director of Philanthropy to increase our engagement with donors and others in Central Missouri. This new position will build relationships with current and prospective BCHCC donors including individuals, corporations, and organizations toward inviting new and greater philanthropic support for BCHCC. Responsibilities will include raising major gifts towards capital improvements and programming, engaging with donors about estate planning and other legacy gifts, and increasing local corporate support for the beloved Montminy Art Gallery, as well as our history exhibits and collections. This role will provide strategic leadership for all fundraising with assistance from BCHS's small, close-knit team, working closely with the Executive Director, Marketing and Communications Manager, Membership Services Coordinator, BCHCC board of directors. This is a full-time, salaried position with competitive benefits. The community work necessary is centered in one of America's Best Places to Live, Columbia, Missouri. Responsibilities:

Fundraising Leadership

● Strengthen and maintain relationships with our donors.

● Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan, communicating fundraising goals throughout the organization, and equipping team members to reach them.

● Invite philanthropic support through major, annual, and planned gifts from individuals, corporations, organizations, and foundations.

● Generate new strategies that increase revenue, improve donor loyalty, and engage new donors.

● Monitor and report on progress toward short-term and long-term fund development strategy and goals to the Executive Director and the board.

● Oversee the fundraising program budget and monitor expenses.

Requirements:

Our ideal candidate is a well-organized leader with a passion for philanthropy and our mission. Other requirements include:

● 7+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising; direct experience in major giving, legacy/estate gifts, and capital campaigns preferred

● Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

● Proven ability to lead and mentor a team

● Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills

The position's benefits include paid time off, a retirement plan, sick leave, family leave, and membership to a Direct Primary Healthcare provider. Salary will be based on experience, the applicant's skill set, and the applicant's career track record. The salary range is $80,000 - $110,000.
