ACP Technologies (ACPT) is seeking a highly skilled technical leader with a strong background in the petroleum and/or petrochemical industries. The Director of Process Development will assume technical leadership in ACPT's process development and licensing department that develops, patents, commercializes and licenses new technology. ACPT is a small, innovative company that converts aromatic petroleum streams into isotropic pitch and mesophase pitch and collaborates with a large US oil company on technology development. We conduct R&D with the US DOD and work with industrial partners to develop downstream applications of the pitch, such as graphite for Li ion batteries, carbon fiber and carbon-carbon composites. We are looking for someone with experience in petroleum and/or petrochemical process development, design and operating experience and has patents in the field. Company is headquartered in St. Clair Shores, MI and has a pilot plant in Eastern Kentucky. Ideal candidates would live near the company headquarters, the pilot plant or be willing to relocate. Expect to travel up to 25% of the time.

Director Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership in the development, patenting, scale up and commercialization of new and existing technologies.
  • Work well with the large US oil company collaborating with us.
  • Maintain a commercial and customer focus.
  • Manage technology budgets and schedules.
  • Stay up on relevant technology trends and developments.
  • Ensure all technology practices adhere to regulatory requirements.

Director Requirements:

  • MS or PhD in chemical engineering or petroleum engineering.
  • 20+ years work experience with at least 10 years in a supervisory position.
  • Broad experience in the petroleum and/or petrochemical industries developing new technologies, preparing patent applications and designing commercial facilities.
  • An inventor in related patents.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • US citizen or a US legal resident with a Green Card.
