GENERAL PURPOSE
The Director of Product Innovation will oversee the tactical implementation of the company's product development roadmap. The incumbent will lead development activities and ensure timely execution of the company's product development operations. The successful candidate has experience in implementing product and instrument development processes, managing external partner relationships, and a successful history of deploying complex products to the life science industry. Developing a strong relationship with bioprocess R&D teams and driving the manufacturing process with operations and quality teams to success. The role is based in the company's headquarters in Camarillo, California. This role reports to the Exec Director of CDO Business of the company.

Primary Responsibilities
- Define and implement product development processes with an NPD Taskforce Team which is composed of internal bioprocess R&D team (for product function requirements by the end users), product management team (for commercial requirements), engineering design team (for product development), and external partners as needed. Ensuring cross-functional alignment for product requirements and definition documents.
- Translate product requirements into new product design concepts and development plans with clear timelines and cost targets for joint development with partners.
- Work closely with research teams to develop prototypes and customized workflows for technology feasibility assessment and product development preparation.
- Oversee the product process from development through production; proactively address and solve any issues and risks that arise.
- Oversee external partners' execution on all phases of product development, from concept design to manufacturing transfer, with processes to ensure performance and quality control.
- Develop, implement, and enforce key performance metrics, milestones, specifications, documentation and reporting requirements, and budgets.
- Communicate with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders to identify and assess product and program requirements; apply this knowledge to support product development strategy.
- Engage development partners to advance the company's products to lead the competition in performance and quality.
- Support product and instrument roadmap by incorporating inputs from commercial teams and assessing technology developed by internal research teams and external partners.
- Support the strategic direction of the company's product development roadmap and operations.
- Travel as required by the role e.g., travel to partners' sites and work closely with partners' teams.
Minimum Qualifications

- Minimum master's degree or higher in an engineering or scientific discipline, Ph.D. degree preferred.
- Proven track record of leading product development encompassing state-of-the-art technologies in all phases of the product cycle; experience in life science tools product is preferred.
- Deep understanding of product development processes, system engineering, project management, and supply chain management.
- Knowledge in life science industry, tool space, and applications.
- Self-starter comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced, results-driven environment.
- Ability to think strategically and execute a tactical plan.
