Description This position will work primarily with the Region IV Public Health Training Center, but might also collaborate with other practice partners at Emory in the training and technical assistance space. Region IV Public Health Training Center (R-IV PHTC): Originally funded in 2014 by the Health Resources and Services Administration, the mission of the R-IV PHTC is to build the capacity of the current and future public health workforce to protect and promote the health of communities in the southeast (AL, FL, GA, KY, MS, NC, SC, TN). The primary activities of the R-IV PHTC are to identify training needs for the governmental public health workforce in Region IV; to develop/implement trainings for this workforce based on these needs; and to provide field placement internships for public health students in the region. The R-IV PHTC is headquartered at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University and partners with academic or community-based organizations in the other seven states to accomplish its mission. To learn more about R-IV PHTC, visit KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in directing the strategic planning, development, and implementation of programs. Represents the organization at meetings, conferences and other events. May develop and present speeches or presentations to generate or enhance awareness of program(s). Provides technical support by evaluating established processes, conducting training, attending operational meetings and networking with affiliated groups. Monitors progress toward achieving established objectives and deadlines. Participates in planning, administering and monitoring program related budgets. Conducts research, designs new initiatives, and collaborates with others to ensure program(s) remain viable. May serve on, hold office in, or chair committees. May write publishable articles and papers. May supervise staff. Oversees or assists in developing operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies. Ensures required records and documentation are maintained. Performs related responsibilities as required. ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: As the Assistant Director of Programming of the R-IV PHTC, this position oversees implementation of all the competency-based training, field placement, and TA/consultation activities of the center. With insight into training needs, this position sets the training work plan for each year and develops systems to track performance. This position supervisors 3 programming staff who are responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating trainings across all modalities (and one staff responsible for the marketing of our offerings). As new staff are hired, this position trains them in development/implementation processes and systems, and for all staff, establishes opportunities for cross-training and TA support for trainings. On an as needed basis, this position steps in to cover webinars, workshops, or field placement management during staff transitions or absences. This position plans or assists in the planning of several in-person meetings each year (e.g., steering committee, leadership institute retreats). This position oversees the use of systems (LearnUpon, MailChimp, etc.) necessary to support training and field placement activities and develops contracts with subject matter experts. This position oversees annual performance data collection and submission and works with the PI/Director to submit other required reports and to track expenses. This position builds, sustains and nurtures relationships with health departments and other partners to provide technical assistance, offer workforce development opportunities, and further promote the work of the center. This position represents the center at meetings and leads/co-leads presentations or workshops about our centers offerings. As opportunities develop, this position works with the PI to write new grant applications and new project proposals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program(s) and five years of program related experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Individuals with an MPH, experience in public health practice and/or workforce development Experience working in, or with, local or state level governmental public health and other CBOs in the southeastern part of the U.S. to meet their workforce development goals Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the field of adult education and competency-based curriculum development A proven track record with curriculum and/or program development Experience developing and hosting trainings for both in-person and online environments Experience supervising staff Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent attention to detail and organization skills Must be able to manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines Must be a team player who collaborates with others and is willing to back up others as needed Must be familiar with the latest educational technology, including Zoom, to coordinate educational content with the appropriate technological support Familiarity with learning management systems Strong MS Office skills The role will be granted the opportunity to partially work from home.
