Position Overview

The Director of Quality Control and Quality Assurance is responsible for overseeing the Quality Management and Assurance activities of the Commercial Unit, with a focus on maintaining and improving the Quality System. Reporting directly to the CEO in New York, this role serves as the Quality Functional Leader, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and fostering a culture of excellence within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Strategy
    • Provide leadership for the Quality team by setting clear goals, objectives, and expectations.
    • Oversee staffing, performance reviews, salary management, and succession planning.
    • Develop long-term strategies and objectives to enhance Quality Management processes.
  • Regulatory Compliance and System Management
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including GMP and GLP, per FDA guidelines.
    • Maintain and continually improve the Commercial Unit's Quality System.
    • Ensure the organization is consistently audit-ready through regular internal audits.
    • Manage external audits from authorities, clients, and certification organizations.
  • Client and Product Support
    • Act as the primary Quality representative in client interactions.
    • Handle client complaints, non-compliance investigations, and implement corrective actions.
    • Collaborate with product marketing teams to review and approve product specifications.
  • Quality System Oversight
    • Ensure in-process product quality meets internal and external client requirements.
    • Manage Quality System documentation for the Commercial Unit.
    • Oversee supplier and contract manufacturing approval programs.
  • Performance Metrics and Reporting
    • Track and report key quality performance indicators (KPIs), including audit results, customer complaints, internal non-conformances, and staffing metrics.
    • Manage the Quality budget, including planning and tracking.
  • Testing and Validation
    • Oversee all testing requirements, validations, and Certificates of Analysis (COAs).

    Qualifications

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Applied Sciences or Engineering (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related fields).
    • Experience:
    • 5–8 years of management experience, including budgeting and staff management.
    • Proven expertise in Quality Assurance or Product Development, preferably in the cosmetics industry.
    • Knowledge: Familiarity with Quality Systems, GMP, GLP, and FDA-regulated industry standards.
    • Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities with a results-oriented approach.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively managing diverse stakeholders.
