Reports to: Clubhouse ManagerSupervises: Tennis Professionals, Racquet Maintenance Staff, Racquet Shop Attendants, Head Pickleball ProfessionalThe Wanderers Club is a casual, multi-generational private golf and country club in the heart of the equestrian community of Wellington, Florida. The Club's full array of amenities and services are centered around families, sports and the equestrian lifestyle found only in Wellington. We serve a vibrant community of over 500 member families in areas ranging from golf, racquet, and swimming to childcare, events, and dining.OVERVIEWThe Director of Racquet Sports is a full-time, year-round position that requires the candidate to be a highly visible and approachable leader. The ideal candidate is personable, passionate, and experienced, effectively communicating with a diverse range of individuals, from youth to seniors. They will focus on driving enthusiasm for racquet sports while empowering the community to embrace new opportunities that align with the program's long-term vision.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Prior experience as a Head Tennis Professional or Director of Racquet Sports, preferably at a private Club.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or Sports Management is preferred.
  • Collegiate team experience is preferred, with a playing rating of 4.5 or above.
  • Experience managing competitive women's teams.
  • Experience running junior development programs.
  • At least two years of experience in retail sales of sporting goods.
  • Preferred certification with either the U.S. Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) or the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR).
JOB TASKS AND DUTIES
  • Organize and direct all club tennis activities, events, exhibitions, tournaments, and lessons.
  • Promote and teach private and group lessons for juniors and adults.
  • Lead coaching for women's D2 and D4 teams, including planning and leading all practices, attending games, and organizing awards ceremonies and related events.
  • Be visible to Members in all areas of the racquet operation, especially during peak hours of play.
  • Introduce new Members to suitable racquet programs.
  • Develop and maintain both competitive and social racquet programming for adults through instructional programs, leagues, and a comprehensive annual events calendar.
  • Select, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate all racquet staff.
  • Coordinate with the Food and Beverage Director, Executive Chef, and Banquet Manager to provide excellent food and beverage service for tennis events.
  • Organize and officiate at tournaments, exhibitions, and inter- and intra-club social events.
  • Administer and enforce club tennis policies and procedures regarding play on club courts.
  • Coordinate maintenance, repair, and cleaning of courts with grounds and maintenance departments and/or outside vendors.

  • String rackets and perform other light equipment repairs.
  • Inspect and maintain all physical areas regularly.
  • Write and edit racquet-related news and announcements for the Club's newsletter.
  • Manage the Racquet Pro Shop.
  • Develop the budget for the racquet sales area and take corrective action as necessary to ensure budget goals are met.
  • Ensure all Club Members and guests receive courteous, prompt, and professional attention to their tennis and pickleball needs.
  • Attend all staff and management meetings.
  • Complete other appropriate assignments as directed by the Clubhouse Manager.
