Job Summary:

Milburn Country Club seeks a dynamic and experienced Director of Racquet Sports to lead and oversee all aspects of its tennis and pickleball programs. The Director of Racquet Sports (DOR) will manage the club's tennis and pickleball operations, deliver exceptional programming for players of all ages and skill levels, and ensure a welcoming and vibrant racquet sports community. This role requires a strong leader with a passion for tennis, pickleball, outstanding interpersonal skills, and a proven track record in managing a program.

Milburn Country Club is a premier private club offering first-class amenities and a welcoming environment for its members. With a commitment to excellence, the club boasts state-of-the-art facilities, a thriving racquets community, and a rich tradition of outstanding service. Milburn has over 740 families that call Milburn home and over 70 families on the waitlist to join. The Club is organized as a 501(c)(7) and is a not-for-profit corporation.

Milburn has 5 lit tennis courts with pickleball lines on all courts and 3 of the courts get put under a tennis dome in the off season to allow for indoor racquet sports and year-round play. Milburn also has an 18-hole championship golf course, brand new pool remodel in 2021, a fitness center and clubhouse dining. The tennis and pickleball programs have grown year over year with a large junior program, active adult program and lesson clientele.

Key Responsibilities:

The DOR position is a member of the Executive Team and works closely with all Club department leaders to ensure the achievement of the Club's goals and values. The DOR is responsible for staffing, training and supervising assistant professionals, instructors and support staff while fostering a collaborative and professional work environment for the tennis department.

The DOR will strive to build strong relationships with members to understand their needs and enhance their experience. In addition, this position will ensure courts and amenities are maintained to the highest standards.

The DOR will be responsible for the overall operations of the Racquets Program

  • Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive tennis and pickleball programs, including clinics, private lessons, camps, tournaments, and leagues.
  • Develop junior and adult programs that promote player development and engagement.
  • Organize and manage special events such as socials and interclub competitions.
  • Oversee the maintenance, scheduling, and utilization of the facilities, including courts, equipment, and pro shop operations.
  • Develop and manage the tennis department's annual budget, ensuring financial goals.

Qualifications and Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • USPTA or PTR certification (Elite or Master level preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tennis and pickleball program management, preferably at a private club.
  • Proven ability to develop successful tennis and pickleball programs and events.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing budgets, staff, and racquet operations.
  • Energetic, approachable, and member-focused with a passion for the games of tennis and pickleball
  • Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
