HOACNY provides cancer care services, Monday through Friday, day hours at three convenient locations in East Syracuse, Syracuse and Auburn. A Director of Research is an individual, who coordinates and oversees the implementation of clinical studies; who assures the legal, ethical, and safe: recruitment and consent of study participants, conduct of protocols, accurate collection of data, as well as the timely and correct transference of information to study groups, sponsors, and adjudicators. In addition, the Director will accept responsibility for ensuring compliance with federally funded research requirements and; facilitating the solicitation of pharmaceutical trials to complement studies offered through federal funding. Supervision of research staff. Direct and coordinate activities of research department staff. Approve paid time off for exempt and non-exempt research staff. Monitor and update policies. Participates in leadership meetings and works collaboratively with other team leaders. Ensures that research undertaken is conducted within ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines, IRB policies, and all state and federal regulations. Provides professional care for Hematology-Oncology Associates' patients participating in clinical trials following established standards and practices. Responsible for screening and assessing patients for clinical trials; enrolling and monitoring patients (assessing adverse events, etc.), consenting process; communication with physician investigators, patients, and family & friends; verifying accurate inclusion/exclusion criteria and data collection; Responsible for protocol evaluation and feasibility, including budget evaluation and trial preparation involving the planning, assembling and instruction of the trial team; development and evaluation of patient information and patient recruitment. Prepares for and participates in study visits with clinical trial monitor, sponsor, and auditors . Be trained or have experience in clinical research, GCP requirements, and medical documentation requirements. Be trained or have experience in the roles and responsibilities of study coordinators and research staff. Be trained or have experience creating and maintaining regulatory documents. Be trained or have experience with laws and regulations pertaining to New York State Department of Education; Code of Federal Regulations, and FDA requirements. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and advanced computer skills/high comfort level with technology/electronic medical records Strong interpersonal skills; enjoys collaboration; works well with patients and colleagues, ability to work in teams Ability to work autonomously, strong critical thinking and problem solving skill, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to set priorities and reprioritize quickly Salary Description $40+
