Purpose of the Role
Our well-travelled hotel guests come to The Manner expecting a sophisticated environment including privileges to a list of amenities in an inviting atmosphere – making The Manner their house away from home. Our hotel guests will experience thoughtfully crafted and personalized accommodations to not only meet but transcend their expectations. As The Director of Sales, you are responsible for the planning, development, execution, and overall management of sales programs consistent with, and supportive of, the overall business objectives of the hotel for both core and outer markets. The Director of Sales is responsible for attracting high-value clients, maximizing revenue, and maintaining our hotel's prestigious reputation.
Responsibilities
- Lead sales team to drive results from sales-related segments and achieve overall hotel revenue goals.
- Oversee Event Sales. Maintain pace reports and deploy strategies to meet and/or exceed budgeted revenues.
- Liaise with the Food & Beverage Management and Culinary team to ensure the successful execution of meetings and events.
- Ongoing compset analysis, spearheading menu changes and updates, in collaboration with Food & Beverage Management.
- Achieve non-revenue related goals such as KPIs, proactive sales efforts, cross-selling, etc.;
- Direct and coordinate company sales and marketing functions.
- Develop and coordinate sales selling cycle and methodology.
- Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of sales methods, costs, and results.
- Develop and manage sales and marketing budgets and oversee the development and management of internal operating budgets.
- Directly manage major and critical developing client accounts and coordinate the management of all other accounts.
- Participate in the development of new project proposals.
- Establish and implement short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
- Supervise the planning and development of company marketing and communications materials.
- Represent the company at various community and/or business meetings to promote the company.
- Supervise preparing, issuing, and delivering sales materials, exhibits, and promotion programs.
- Promote positive relations with partners, vendors, and distributors.
- Recommend and administer policies and procedures to enhance operations.
- Work with department managers and corporate staff to develop five-year and ten-year business plans for the company.
- Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
- Serve on planning and policy-making committees.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff.
- Support all hotel-wide training, guest relations, branding, and cultural initiatives.
- Maintain awareness of all department's operational challenges and assist when appropriate.
- Attend hotel-wide social, community, and associate functions.
Qualifications
- Understanding: Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions according to established procedures.
- Organizational Skills: Work efficiently, utilize multi-tasking, prioritize tasks.
- Hygiene and Sanitation: Adherence to uniform, grooming, and personal hygiene standards and expectations per SOPs.
- Punctuality: Adherence to posted schedule and arrival time and attendance at mandatory meetings when scheduled.
- Responsibility: Personal comportment in line with The Manner, New York policies, standards, and expectations.
- College degree.
- 5-8 years of Sales experience.
- Strong Leadership and communication skills.
- Strong managerial skills.
- Compute accurate mathematical calculations.
- Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally.
- Previous experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in a 4-star Lifestyle hotel.
- Familiarity with statistical reports.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution.
- Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
- Knowledge of structuring sales quota goals and revenue expectations.
- Experience in planning marketing strategies, advertising campaigns, and successful public relations efforts.
- Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
- Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
Ability to:

Desirable:
- Industry contacts.
- Hotel operational experience.
- Fluency in a foreign language, preferably, French, German, Spanish, or Italian.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to traverse spaces throughout the building as necessary.
- Able to work standing for a minimum of 10 hours a day.
- Periodical bending, kneeling, and stretching.
- Able to pull, push, carry, and lift at least 50 pounds.
- Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.
