General Summary

The Director - Packaging Sales is responsible for the growth and development of the Strategic Sales teams to support the Packaging business segment. To include planning, directing all aspects of Strategic Sales teams in terms of sales and other activities with the purpose of increasing sales and profitability; directed by the VP of Sales.

Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

* Manages a group of Strategic Account Managers and provides national sales support. To include supervising the STAM group in the effort to onboard Strategic Customers.

* Offers guidance, resources, and support to STAM team pertinent to the success of the segment business, such as developing, growing, and maintaining Strategic Accounts.

* Assists in developing and implements sales strategies to grow Company's business with targeted customers in this segment within an area of focus.

* Works closely with Regional Sales Management and Regional Account Managers in quoting and implementation of new products and execution of programs.

* Communicates and works with RVP/OVPs/BU Leads to incorporate opportunities into short and long-term strategic plan.

* Organizes, plans, and executes Company efforts regarding trade shows within area of operation.

* Develops sales & expense budgets in support of Company growth initiatives

* Revises and develops sales strategies, tactics and presentations to ensure maximum results

* Develops new markets and market penetration strategies within area of operation.

* Assist in setting standards for performance in sales, profitability, and development within area of operation.

* Oversees and evaluates STAM Team budget and plans, initiate changes and corrective action, as necessary.

* Identifies and helps formulate tactics for strategic growth.

* Oversees new product introductions and strategic rollout to area of operations.

* Prepares various reports and maintains records as required

* Provides motivation and drive to achieve goals

* Provides mentoring for identified future leaders within the area.

* Extensive travel could be required

* Performs other duties as required

Job Specifications

Knowledge

* Bachelor's Degree in administration, marketing or related discipline or equivalent experience is required

* Minimum three to five years of work experience and quota/margin attainment in sales to related markets

* Demonstrated knowledge of lumber and engineered wood products

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook

* Preferred experience and knowledge on UFP's organization, culture, and product lines

Skills and abilities

* Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing and speaking

* Ability to successfully interact with all organizational levels and the public

* Demonstrated proficiency to manage multiple tasks and activities at once, to organize and set priorities, and to meet deadlines

* Demonstrated ability to prepare plans and budgets

* Demonstrated ability to train and mentor individuals in a sales environment

* Demonstrate ability to effectively manage, coach and develop subordinates

* Demonstrated ability to be mobile in the work environment and travel as required

* Ability to apply business math to manufacturing processes

* Ability to use a computer, and proficiency of the use of MS Office and other business software

* Demonstrated skills in leading projects and other people

* Ability to understand the conditions of the market place and present solutions to challenging times

* Ability to pass a drug test

Working Conditions

Working environment is favorable. Requires standing and walking for 50% of the time; talking, hearing and seeing are essential duties of the job; sitting at a desk and driving for long periods of time are also required. Travel is required.
