Job Title: Director of Student Support Services Position Summary: The Director of Student Support Services is a leader in the District who will
  • Assist the administrative team in the task of providing leadership in developing, achieving, and maintaining K-12 student support service programs.
  • Implement and train best practices in special populations programming
  • Provide expertise in the removal of barriers for student instruction and student school experience
  • Oversee District processes to ensure compliance as well as implementation of District services and programming
Qualifications:
  • Pennsylvania Supervisor of Special Education Certificate, Pennsylvania Pupil Personnel Certificate, and/or Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility Excellent Public Relations and Communication Skills

  • Duties and Responsibilities: The Director of Student Support Services
  • Conduct and/or oversee the development, coordination, evaluation and supervision of kindergarten through twelfth grade Counseling services, Health services, Special Education programs, Psychological and Psychiatric services, Related services, English Language development programs, Student Assistance programs, School-Based Mental Health services, Homebound Instruction, Home Education Programs, Charter Schools, Residential Treatment Center(s), Homeless services, Foster Care services, AEDY services.
  • Ensure that appropriate educational services for all exceptional and protected special needs students are provided and ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal special education laws and mandates.
  • Maintain all student support services/special education records.
  • Supervise all special education staff, gifted/enrichment staff, English Language development staff, special education Paraeducators, related services staff, school counselors, school psychologists, school social workers, and school nurses.
  • Provide, oversee, and/or coordinate staff development services related to special education, gifted services, counseling services, health services and related services.
  • Oversee and supervise the school psychologists and the Department of Student Support Services Administrative Assistants.
  • Create and/or ensure compliance of Administrative Procedures for Student Support Services Department.
  • Provide necessary reports and/or updates to the Board of School Directors.
  • Participate and collaborate in development of the strategic plan as well as the implementation of the strategic plan and goals, as assigned.
  • Collaborate in the development, leadership, and sustained success of district-wide MTSS and PBIS programs.
  • Ensure participation and submission of all PDE cyclical monitoring and PDE data reports.
  • Create and/or implement processes to ensure compliance and implementation of regulations, expectations, or best practices.
  • Assist in the recruiting, screening, hiring and training of student support services staff.
  • Prepare and administer the student support services operating budget and coordinate proper submission of ACCESS funding.
  • Lead and/or Assist in the writing grants for student support services and upon receipt coordinate, implement, and prepare all required grant compliance reports.
  • Serve as an available resource to all district personnel on student support service matters.
  • Attend all administrative team meetings, leadership team meetings, board meetings and the AIU3 Liaison/Special Education Directors Meeting.
  • Continue lifelong learning through activities such as study of current professional literature and participation in local, county, regional, and state meetings and conferences.
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Superintendent.
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Current Act 114, Act 34 and Act 151 required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date).
  • School Personnel Health Record and TB Test (Form H511.340) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.
