LOCATION : Garner , Iowa

Role Overview:

The Director Technology & Innovation, will lead transformational efforts across the organization, championing innovation, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making. This role will oversee the Project Management Office (PMO), ERP modernization, and business process optimization, playing a pivotal role in aligning IT strategy with business objectives. As a key leader, this role is integral to ensuring that IT initiatives not only meet the technical needs of the organization but also drive measurable value and support long-term growth.

This position requires a strong blend of leadership, strategic thinking, and deep understanding of manufacturing, Business processes, and data analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Alignment:
    • Collaborate with the CIO and other senior leaders to align IT projects, ERP modernization, business processes, and data analytics with the overall business strategy of Stellar.
    • Act as a key advisor to the CIO on matters related to project management, ERP transformation, process optimization, data analytics, and IT governance.
    • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in both manufacturing and IT, and recommend their adoption where beneficial.
  • PMO Leadership and Governance:
    • Establish and lead the Project Management Office, ensuring the adoption of best practices in project management, resource allocation, and governance.
    • Provide oversight and direction to project managers, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
    • Implement and manage a robust project portfolio management process, ensuring alignment with business objectives and IT strategy.
  • ERP Modernization and Transformation:
    • Lead and manage the Stellar ERP modernization and transformation initiative, ensuring seamless integration with existing business processes and minimal disruption to operations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess current ERP systems, identify areas for improvement, and develop a comprehensive ERP strategy that supports business goals.
    • Oversee the implementation, and optimization of the ERP solution post go-live, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of Stellar.
    • Drive change management efforts related to ERP transformation, including training, communication, and stakeholder engagement, to ensure successful adoption of the new system.
  • Business Process Optimization:
    • Responsible for a Team of Business Process Experts, leading initiatives to analyze, design, maintain and improve business processes in collaboration with other concerned functional areas and departments.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies, streamline processes, and implement automation where appropriate.
    • Develop and maintain documentation of business processes, ensuring they are current, accurate, and accessible to stakeholders.
  • Data and Analytics Leadership:
    • Lead the organization's data and analytics initiatives, driving the strategy and execution of data-driven decision-making across the enterprise.
    • Oversee a cross-functional team responsible for data management, analytics, and business intelligence, ensuring data is leveraged effectively to support strategic goals.
    • Collaborate with IT and business leaders to ensure data governance, data quality, and data integration efforts align with organizational needs.
    • Champion the use of advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI to uncover insights, optimize processes, and improve manufacturing operations.
    • Drive the implementation of analytics platforms and tools, enabling the organization to harness data for predictive and prescriptive analytics.
  • Stakeholder Management and Communication:
    • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including manufacturing, operations, finance, HR, and data teams, to understand their needs and priorities.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for project, ERP, process, and data-related inquiries, ensuring clear and consistent communication across all levels of the organization.
    • Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders to review project status, ERP transformation progress, analytics insights, risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Team Development and Leadership:
    • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of project managers, business process analysts, data scientists, and ERP specialists.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability within the team and across the organization.
    • Provide regular performance feedback and support the professional growth of team members.
  • Risk Management and Compliance:
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to project delivery, ERP modernization, business processes, and data analytics, ensuring compliance with internal policies and industry regulations.
    • Develop contingency plans and proactively address potential challenges to ensure the successful execution of projects and processes.

    Required Capabilities and Experience:

  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team of professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
    • Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to align team efforts with organizational goals.
    • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Business Process Management:
    • Strong experience in business process analysis, design, and optimization, with a focus on improving efficiency and reducing costs in a manufacturing setting.
    • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma principles or similar process improvement methodologies.
    • Experience in implementing and managing process automation solutions.
  • Project Management Expertise:
    • Extensive experience in leading and managing large-scale portfolio management, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
    • Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2, Agile) and tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Asana).
    • Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • ERP Modernization/Transformation:
    • Significant experience in leading ERP modernization or transformation initiatives, including the selection, implementation, and optimization of ERP systems.
    • Deep understanding of how ERP systems integrate with manufacturing processes and the broader IT landscape.
    • Proven ability to manage the complexities of ERP transformation, including data migration, system integration, and change management.
    • Experience with major ERP platforms (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Data and Analytics Leadership:
    • Extensive experience in leading data and analytics teams, with a focus on driving data strategy, governance, and advanced analytics initiatives.
    • Proficiency in data analytics tools and platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SAS, Python, R) and experience in applying data science techniques to solve business problems.
    • Strong understanding of data management practices, including data quality, data integration, and data governance.
    • Experience in implementing and managing analytics platforms to support enterprise-wide data initiatives.
  • Manufacturing Industry Knowledge:
    • In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, operations, and technologies, and how they intersect with IT.
    • Experience working within or advising manufacturing organizations on IT-related initiatives.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Management:
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
    • Proven ability to manage relationships with senior executives, business leaders, and external partners.
    • Strong negotiation and influence skills, with the ability to drive consensus and manage expectations.
  • Education and Certifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Data Science, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
    • Relevant certifications such as PMP, Lean Six Sigma, ITIL, certifications related to ERP systems (e.g., SAP Certified Application Professional), or data analytics certifications (e.g., Certified Analytics Professional, AWS Certified Data Analytics) are desirable.
  • Change Management:
    • Experience in leading change management initiatives within an organization, particularly in relation to IT projects, ERP transformations, and data analytics adoption.
    • Ability to manage the human side of change, ensuring buy-in and adoption of new processes, systems, and data-driven practices.

    Career Progression:
