Reports to: General ManagerEmployment Type: Full-Time, ExemptPosition Overview:Millbrook Golf & Tennis Club is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Tennis & Racquet Sports to lead and manage all aspects of our racquet sports offerings, including tennis, and pickleball.The Director will be responsible for program development, staff management, and member engagement to ensure the highest standards of service and instruction. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, exceptional teaching skills, and a passion for growing racquet sports participation across all levels.This position would have Full-Time expectations from April 15th - October 31st each year. During the off-season, the director would need to be available for meetings, recruiting, planning, etc.Current Staffing Levels: 7 Teaching Professionals, 2 Shop Attendants, 3 Court Maintenance PersonnelAbout Millbrook Golf & Tennis Club:The Millbrook Golf & Tennis Club is a private golf and tennis club that serves the athletic, recreational and social needs of the membership. Founded in 1900, the Club's picturesque 70-acre facility encompasses 7 Har-Tru tennis courts, 1 hard court, 2 paddle courts, an Audubon certified 9-hole golf course, and a pool.The Golf House was constructed in 2011 to include locker rooms, golf shop, offices, a gracious bar/sitting room with a fireplace and a beautiful dining porch with views over the course to the Catskills.The historic Clubhouse includes a snack bar, bar, and provides members with a gracious living and entertaining space including a fireplace, backgammon tables, a piano and a welcoming dining porch overlooking the tennis courts, which is the heart of the Club.Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive programs for adults, juniors, and beginners. This includes group lessons, clinics, private instruction, leagues, tournaments, junior camps, and social events.
  • Manage Tennis Shop and ensure shop is properly staffed and fully stocked with tennis balls, rackets, clothing, hats and other tennis related items.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and manage a professional team of instructors and assistants. Foster a culture of continuous learning and development among staff.
  • Build strong relationships with club members to understand their needs, provide excellent service, and promote participation in programs. Offer personalized coaching and guidance to members of all ages and skill levels.
  • Oversee the maintenance, scheduling, and operation of all racquet sports facilities, ensuring a first-class experience for all users. Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure courts and equipment are always in top condition.
  • Organize and promote club-wide events, including tournaments, exhibitions, and social mixers. Ensure that events run smoothly and offer a great experience for all participants.
  • Work with the General Manager to develop long-term plans for racquet sports growth and enhancement. Keep up with industry trends and innovations to continuously improve the club's offerings.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in racquet sports instruction, with 3+ years in a leadership or management role at a club or similar facility.
  • Strong knowledge of tennis, pickleball, and platform tennis, with a proven ability to coach and instruct across all skill levels.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a passion for member service.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing programs, events, and staff.
  • Ability to manage budgets and meet financial targets.
  • Certifications from USTA, USPTA, PTR, or similar organizations are highly desirable.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Competitive salary and commission from private lessons commensurate with experience. Health Benefits, 401K & Continuing Education
  • Anticipated total compensation between $140,000 - $175,000, with a generous base salary.
  • This position is a full employee, with the above benefits.
