Christ the King Catholic ChurchPosition: Director of Youth MinistryReports To: PastorFull TimeFLSA: Salary ExemptChrist the King Catholic Church is looking for a passionate, dedicated, intentional disciple to serve as Director of Youth Ministry. This individual will engage our youth and support their relationship with Christ, leading them into Christ's sacrificial presence in the Church.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement a systematic parish-based pastoral ministry that reaches out to and evangelizes the high school and middle school youth of our community.
- Communicate effectively with youth, parents, staff, the parish, and the community.
- Utilize media and technology to advocate for and promote all youth ministry events and opportunities.
- Be actively engaged in the parish school and local Arlington community.
- Foster the involvement of young people in the life of the parish and diocese.
- Develop and maintain an annual budget as approved by the Pastor.
- Organize fundraising activities to support youth events.
- Organize and direct youth retreats, conferences, and mission trips.
- Be an active and visible presence in the parish community at Mass, other parish events, and the local community through prayer, community building, and service.
- Collaborate with the DRE and parish school teachers to support Confirmation preparation.
- Sensitively support the multicultural ministries of the parish.
Qualifications:
- Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
- The ideal candidate will be bi-lingual as the parish supports English, Spanish, and Vietnamese speaking parishioners.
- Must have knowledge and understanding of Catholic teachings, catechesis, and Church documents on youth ministry.
- B.A. in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, or related field is preferred.
- Degree, certification, or significant training in pastoral care, basic theology, and/or youth ministry
- Experience working with teens.
- Compliance with Safe Environment screening.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, employees, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
