**Job Purpose:**
The Director, Product Cost at Progress Rail reports to the SVP, Product & Program Management, and has overall responsibility for coordinating and driving product cost efforts for the Locomotive Division. This position requires deep understanding of sourcing, design for manufacturing, should cost, as well as an understanding of how to navigate a large cross functional organization. This role will be responsible for coordinating efforts across key platforms and meeting target cost on schedule and delivering on overall profitability targets.

**Key Job Elements:**
- Lead cross functional team in delivering project objectives;

- Work with Product Managers to understand cost targets and thresholds;
- Deliver on cost targets YOY;
- Using problem solving skills resolve cross functional challenges related to program deliverables;
- Travel as required.
**Qualifications and Experience:**
- Thorough knowledge of locomotive products and product applications, and government and legal issues; affecting market access and global markets;
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of progressively responsible job-related experience;
- Well developed human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department;
- Demonstrated strong technical aptitude; creativity, sense of technical balance, general understanding of how locomotive technologies work;
- Demonstrated negotiation and facilitation skills;
- PMP certification or knowledge of program management skills;
- Ability to travel as required (approximately 25%).
Essential and Physical Activities Functions:
- Strength - Position typically involves office managerial work as well as oversight in an industrial environment. Frequent standing, sitting, and walking. Occasional light to medium-level lifting (up to 30 pounds);
- Motion - Position regularly requires standard motions associated with an office environment as well as standard motions associated with leading and demonstrating in an industrial environment;
- Vision/Hearing Requirements - Constant verbal communications, including both talking and hearing;
- Work Environment - Position will occasionally require the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Position may involve work in a non-temperature-controlled environment. Position is located in an industrial environment, including occasional exposure to noise (85+ decibels), occasional exposure to temperature changes, and other hazardous working conditions;
- Emotional Demands - Very high level of responsibility. Must be able to coordinate diverse aspects of a project. Requires significant interpersonal skills while sustaining very high standards;
- Safety - Position will occasionally require the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
Summary Pay Range:
$130,000.00 to $245,000.00
