For more information, please visit www.thermofisher.com.The Director, Product Specialists will be responsible for leading the Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) team globally. They will report directly to the dPCR General Manager and work cross functionally with product management, product development and marketing to make sure global market strategy is effectively implemented across all geographies. By providing leadership to the TSS sales team they will be in charge of growing market presence in digital PCR and winning new accounts. They will create and implement commercial strategies and operating mechanisms to ensure achievement of the annual operating plan. In collaboration with the regional GSD teams, this leader will ensure there is a driven focus on gaining share for dPCR, sales force efficiency and sound commercial delivery through direct and indirect channels across the globe. They will be responsible for attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining a strong result driven team.How will you make an impact?
  • Develop strategic sales plan: That aligns with sales strategies, market trends and company goals to drive revenue. An ability to identify commercial opportunities and develop bold and innovative sales strategies to capitalize on those opportunities.
  • Expand Market Reach: identify new markets and opportunities for expansion, devising entry strategies and establishing partnerships to new penetrate new regions and customers.
  • Drive Sales performance: Set ambitious targets, implement and monitor performance metrics and hold your team accountable. Ensure actions and solutions are driven to completion. A successful track record of managing and growing revenue and profitability.
  • Strengthen Customer Relationships: Nurture relationships with key clients and collaborators, understand their evolving needs and implement initiatives to enhance satisfaction. Manage relationships with customers, distributors and global partners, while addressing and resolving customer issues
  • Demonstrate outstanding leadership and sales management capabilities that uses channels and networks across the company to accelerate growth. A strong personal character coupled with an intuition for business, perceptiveness, and ability to navigate sophisticated and dynamic market conditions. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced business culture, work well across direct and matrix teams and ensure collaboration and effective partnership to achieve common goals. The ability to think clearly and critically, articulate a vision, and inspire others to follow. The fortitude to take risks and can make objective fact-based decisions using hard data as well as intuition and experience.
What will you do?
  • Implement commercial strategies to ensure achievement of the annual operating plan.
  • Maintain robust monthly, quarterly and long-term forecasting processes. Consistently supervise results of sales process including sales forecasting, pipeline management, and sales tracking using Sales Force and other designated IT tools.
  • Work closely with the dPCR business functions and regularly provide voice of field and customers to influence marketing and product development.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of dPCR and qPCR, products, markets, and customer buying practices required to effectively lead a sales team to compete and grow the business.
  • Ensure that comprehensive product and application knowledge is used to effectively understand customer needs and position solutions to drive business performance.
  • Control expenses against pre-established budget and submit required reports on a timely basis.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to influence across diverse groups, and operate at all levels in the business. Must have the presence, visibility and personality to quickly establish credibility with customers, channel partners and industry Key Opinion Leaders. Serve as a role model and coach to the front-line sales team in all aspects of the sales process and customer relationship management. Attract, develop, and retain sales reps. Build teams, inspire others and resolve conflicts. Openly communicate, develop the team, and drive performance.
How will you get there?
  • Bachelor's Degree: Biology, Molecular Biology, biochemistry, or related field; or the equivalent knowledge and experience. Master's degree preferred.
  • An understanding of the dPCR/qPCR and broader genomics application space and markets in research and applied segments, is highly desirable
  • 10 years of effective sales representative experience
  • Experience leading sales teams and track record of consistent sales achievement with ideally exposure to global teams and markets. Experience driving employee engagement as a manager, coach, mentor and leader with vision
  • Setting sales strategies and coaching for selling efficiency. Strategic problem solver who understands and can analyze insights across industry & markets with some understanding of academic, health care, industrial, government and life sciences segments. Planning business, forecasting, and budgeting resources
  • A confident individual who is a good communicator with leadership style self the enables them to lead a culturally diverse team across regions.
