Job Summary: The Director of Project Management is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and successful delivery of all projects. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop project strategies, ensure on-time and on-budget delivery, and maintain high standards of quality and compliance. The Director will lead the project management team, manage financials, and ensure client expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise and mentor the project management team, ensuring continuous development and adherence to best practices.
- Design, implement, and refine project management procedures to optimize team productivity and project outcomes.
- Create and manage policies and procedures for project management, ensuring consistency and efficiency across all projects.
- Handle disciplinary actions and manage team development in collaboration with leadership.
- Work with the financial team to ensure all projects remain within budget, conducting regular financial reviews.
- Collaborate with estimating and operations teams to develop accurate project cost estimates, schedules, and financial closeouts.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and capitalize on opportunities to meet or exceed budgeted objectives with a focus on revenue, expense control, and margin optimization.
- Develop and manage project schedules, costs, designs, and resources from planning through project completion.
- Oversee the management of change orders, ensuring alignment with client expectations and project scope.
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Foster a collaborative team environment, providing leadership, support, and maintaining sound business practices.
- Streamline project delivery processes, applying new technologies and methodologies to improve efficiency.
- Develop detailed work plans that outline required resources and activities to achieve project success.
- Coordinate with operations and support teams to determine resource needs, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Review and adjust project schedules regularly to ensure timely project delivery.
- Proactively identify design or construction challenges and devise effective solutions.
- Monitor and assess the quality of work to ensure alignment with project standards and client expectations.
Required Education, Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license.
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant construction work experience.
- At least 5 years of project management experience.
- OSHA-10 & OSHA-30 certifications.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in reading engineered drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with multiple business units and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven leadership and collaborative skills to motivate and support team members.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to interpret survey/construction plans, maps, and legal descriptions.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
Preferred Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in building and construction or related field.
