The Role
The Regional Director of Advanced Operations is responsible for the interoperability of multiple functional areas that support production and the end-to-end workflow of Laboratories across the Region. Responsibilities may include leading large teams, management of implementation of automation Industrial Engineers, CI Leads, Reliability Engineer, Analysts, Biomedical Technicians, Asset Management, Predictive and Preventive Maintenance, end to end flow, developing cross functional process flow initiatives; development and implementation of predictive analytical tools to enable optimal end to end flow - moving the business toward World Class operations, as a visible, motivating, and engaging Leader. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to benchmark trends in new processes / technologies, investigate industry innovations, introduce new / breakthrough processes.
Responsibilities:
- Drive for results to achieve financial and operational goals for functional areas, including those for productivity, quality, service, and customer satisfaction. Set technology direction based on business needs and drive to meet these.
- Think strategically to develop long term plans for the optimization of production operations that align with Quests overall goals and objectives. Adapt strategies to changing market conditions and emerging trends. Assess current technologies / core disciplines and identify Centers of Excellence opportunities including the development of a Technology Roadmap which includes crafting, owning, and executing roadmap in partnership with National Lab Operations Team.
- Develop strategies to minimize downtime and improve efficiencies and safety in production processes, inclusive of operation recovery processes. Facilitate technology / innovation workshops Ideation workshops.
- Identify, recommend, and implement new processes and/or technologies to improve and streamline production operation processes.
- Provide leadership and direction to Management Staff; identify operational needs and ensure proper training and advising is provided.
- Hold team accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to enable forward progress, leveraging organizational resources efficiently, mentoring, and developing team members.
- Ensure that corporate policies and procedures are followed and supported within scope of the position.
- Support internal and external audits in functional areas.
- Manage vendor relationships / agreements across functional areas.
- Represent functional areas to additional business leadership and stakeholders across the organization.
- Manage the governance for individual and team accountability in a regional and matrixed organization where direct reports, shared resources and business partners are located at multiple locations.
- Available and approachable by all levels of staff, exemplified by the visible open-door policy. Hold department meetings and actively communicate information of local and company-wide interest.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, political, strategic and tactical leadership skills.
- Deliver Operational and Financial performance across all Key Performance Indicators Employees / Quality / Service Metrics / Costs / Innovation
- Travel periodically to other Quest locations, client locations and vendor locations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a scientific, engineering, operations or business discipline plus a minimum of five years experience managing a high- volume regulated production operation environment, or a combination of equivalent education or experience required. This position requires a combination of leadership and hands-on technical skills and it is expected that the individual has relevant experience to manage the resolution of complex technical issues.
- Previous experience in a healthcare environment highly desirable.
- Previous experience with Advanced Operations, Advanced Engineering, High Volume Manufacturing Operations, Industrial Engineering, Predictive Analytics, Preventive Maintenance Programs responsibilities highly desirable.
- Above average written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to deal with confidential information with discretion.
- Administrative and managerial ability in sufficient strength to provide firm direction and controls to departmental activities despite heavy pressure.
- Ability to handle high levels of stress in critical situations and work under challenging conditions and pressures.
- A high level of interpersonal skills is necessary to deal effectively with subordinates, peers, superiors, clients and the public while cultivating a culture aligned with employee Engagement and Enablement.
- Strong analytical/PC skills with ability to gather and analyze data for responsible decision making.
- Previous supervisory experience managing leaders in a layered organization
