The role is responsible for all aspects of Sound Recording Metadata, from matching raw usage data to sound recordings, linking to musical works, and the application of Sound Recording Rights. This includes rights claims, sound recording repertoire feeds, and submissions made by Sound Recording Copyright Owners and performers, as well as musical work and agreement submissions made by publishers and songwriters.Essential Functions--- Oversee all activities, processes and workflows related to sound recording repertoire claims from performers and Sound Recording Copyright Owners.--- Ensure the best possible quality of sound recording rights and repertoire data and the accurate payment of royalties based on rights information addressing anomalies.--- Manage the day-to-day relationships with the major record companies, large distributors, independents, the RIAA and IFPI.--- Oversee all aspects of matching usage data from a variety of sources to Sound Recordings, and linking of Sound Recordings to Musical Works.--- Oversee the interactions between our Matching, Sound Recording Rights and Repertoire Management platforms and our Distribution Engine to ensure delivery of operational requirements.--- Serve as Business Owner and oversee all sound recording rights and repertoire systems, processes and data improvement initiatives, building and maintaining strong relationships with the Technology Department.--- Develop and implement standardized workflows for team activities.--- Develop and track metrics to measure and ensure department objectives are attained.--- Guide and mentor the Matching, Sound Recording Artist Rights Management and Sound Recording RO Rights Management Managers to effectively manage their teams.--- Understand, coordinate and manage implementation and use of new messaging standards impacting rights and repertoire.--- Continuously improve internal methodologies, processes, standards and best practices.--- Communicate and collaborate with other teams on related activities and projects.--- Engage in and own relationships external to SoundExchange relating to Copyright Owners, and International standards protocols such as DDEX.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs)--- Understanding of sound recording rights management landscape and how to translate into business system requirements.--- Understanding of musical works rights management landscape and how to translate into business system requirements.--- Experience with agile software development methodologies, processes, and practices.--- Hands-on leader, with exceptional attention to detail.--- Able to excel in an agile, collaborative, dynamic and fast-paced environment.--- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including public facing and public speaking including being able to speak on/moderate conference panels.--- Able to quickly gain proficiency with unfamiliar systems and processes.--- Able to solve problems and work through conflicts.--- Highly organized, strong work ethic and team player.--- Strong computer skills - working with databases, exceptional Excel skills required.--- Comfortable working with large data sets.--- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple high priority projects.--- Experienced people manager, preferably with experience managing other people managers.--- Working knowledge of the music industry (both Record labels and Publishing) and industry standards such as DDEX.Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience--- BA or BS degree, or equivalent experience, with minimum 10 years of work experience, notably in the Music Industry.--- 5-7 years of experience of management, preferably managing multiple teams.ADA Specifications:This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) more than half the time.The person in this position may need to move about the corporate office(s) more than half the time.This position requires the ability to spend more than half the time viewing computer monitors.Travel RequirementsThis position may require overnight domestic travel less than 20% of the time.This position may require overnight international travel less than 10% of the time.Anticipated travel will be by car, air, and/or train.Note: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the individual(s) assigned to this position.
