JOB DESCRIPTION

As a member of the Tax Reporting and Compliance group, the State Tax Director will be responsible for state tax compliance and other state tax matters for the operations at FOX. The State Tax Director will report directly into the Senior Vice President of Tax.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review corporate and partnership state and local income and franchise tax returns.
  • Review quarterly estimated state tax payments and state tax return extensions.
  • Review interim and year-end state tax provisions.
  • Liaise with finance and accounting personnel to collect and analyze financial information for assigned business operations as it relates to state taxes.
  • Manage state tax audits and inquiries.
  • Provide support to other corporate and operating groups on state tax matters.
  • Supervise staff and/or external consultants tasked with the preparation of assigned entity state tax returns and projects.
  • Assist with various state tax projects as assigned.
  • WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • MST and/or CPA.
  • 10+ years of state income tax compliance experience in industry is preferred or comparable public accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of corporate and partnership state income tax rules and principles.
  • Understanding of income tax accounting concepts.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong state tax technical background and tax research skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively as a part of a team.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER

  • Media company experience.
  • Public accounting experience in a nationally recognized firm.
  • Experience with Corptax, Alteryx, and Workday.

    Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $175,000.00-215,000.00 annually for New York City and Westchester County, NY. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
