Director, Student Experience & EngagementJob Summary:
Under the direction of the Vice-Dean of the College, the Director is responsible for providing visionary leadership for the Department of Student Experience and Engagement, housed within the Division of Campus Life and Student Experience. The Director is an innovative thought-leader who centers the holistic engagement of students as the core of the mission of a department that serves as a hub for student activities. The Director manages the conception, implementation, and oversight of student-related events and programs, and serves as a conduit for and facilitator of out-of-the-classroom student engagement at the College. The Director develops mechanisms for successful implementation and evaluation of impact. The Director advises the Student Government Association and facilitates the relationship between SGA and College leadership.Job Description:
Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage operations and daily functions of the department of Student Experience and Engagement.
Supervise Associate Director, Theater Director, Department Assistant, and the Program Coordinator, Campus-wide Programs and New Student Orientation Program (NSOP); Provide direct oversight, training, and guidance to the professional and support staff of the department; Guide annual evaluation of professional staff.
Develop, implement, and assess goals and learning outcomes for the department to support the mission of the department, division, and the College as a whole.
Assist in the cultivation of a culture of engagement and dynamic co-curricular experience for students within the College community. Direct the creation, coordination, and implementation of many campus and university-wide student-facing events and programs.
Act as general advisor to the Student Government Association and serve as the primary liaison between SGA and the Barnard and Columbia administrations for tasks related to student governance, financial management of the student activities fee, and four-school initiatives. Oversee advising structure for all student organizations recognized by the College, specifically groups recognized by SGA and the Governing Board at Barnard (GBB).
Establish and execute policies and procedures related to student event planning, program staffing, and facility use for student organizations; Adhere to relevant financial, legal and policy implications (alcohol, risk management, etc.).
Maintain operating budget, including development of financial models, projection of expenses, and assessing financial needs.
Serve as an active and engaged member of the Campus Life and Student Experience team leadership team. Support the implementation and realization of the goals and priorities identified by the Vice President/Dean of the College.
Collaborate with campus partners to enhance the student experience for all students.
Serve on various College and University-wide committees as requested.
Maintain regular communication and announcements to students and serve as the institution's liaison with relevant student engagement platforms (e.g. Anthology).
Coordinate with relevant departments on key college-wide events; specifically Commencement and Convocation. Carry out such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of the College or Vice Dean of the College.

Word processing and computer skills for own use, including but not limited to desktop publishing, Microsoft, Office, database, email, Web.
Familiarity and experience with navigating online student engagement platforms, such as Anthology.
Qualifications:
This job is currently a hybrid position, but may require a presence in the office up to five times a week, including for team and full staff meetings and other times as directed by the supervisor.
Salary: $108,000 - $118,000 annually
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimateof the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
