You will primarily focus on ensuring that oncology clinical programs are using appropriate imaging techniques from preclinical through registration phases of development, which entails directly working with preclinical and development teams within the drug development process. The Director, Translation Imaging Lead will enable preclinical and clinical teams by scouting and incorporating state-of-the-art imaging strategies and suggesting (emerging) imaging approaches and techniques that will aid the development of new drugs.The Director, Translation Imaging Lead strategically and proactively drives the use of imaging biomarkers for decision-making purposes starting from target validation and will strive to improve the overall excellence in this area. You will achieve the above by relying on internal resources throughout the organization, in particular in Drug Discovery and Development and by leveraging external relationships and ensure that clinical imaging activities adhere to regulatory and industry standards and ensures the regulatory acceptance of new imaging biomarker programs. The Director, Translation Imaging Lead will collaborate with Research and Radiology to implement Imaging strategies that support innovative and competitive drug development. YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe primary responsibilities of this role, Director, Translation Imaging Lead are to:Portfolio Responsibilities:Responsible for assigned development programs with regard to advising on appropriate use of imaging biomarkers and techniques and on the appropriate implementation in clinical trials (imaging acquisition and analysis techniques) in cooperation with Radiology, and external imaging CRO.May participate in the Integrated Program Team (IPT) on behalf of the Sr. Dir. Clinical Imaging and, on request, provides relevant Oncology expertise to GPT when evaluating and developing translation and imaging strategies ;Responsible for preclinical imaging experience in oncology drug development (PET, SPECT, CT, bioluminescence, MRI…) working in close collaboration with ResearchResponsible for directing the global oncology Radiomics approach across portfolio by providing expertise and leadershipActs as thought partner to early research leaders, proactively following early projects prior to D2, and taking an active role from D2 onwards, assembling resources for subsequent imaging activities on the project.Depending on development program nature, participates in or leads motivated and engaged teams while role modelling and fostering effective team behavior to achieve development program goals. Responsibilities beyond portfolio:In alignment with the overall oncology strategy and Translational Sciences community, identifies new opportunities for collaboration and manages excellent relationships with new and existing partners, both within as well as outside of Bayer, to drive Imaging excellence;Contribute to self-empowered matrix teams in-line with Bayer's VACC leadership standards by enabling, empowering, and supporting colleagues in a high-performance environment under a culture of psychological safety. As such, the TIL takes accountability for the respective team outcomes and promotes a creative and innovation-friendly collaboration between clinicians and scientists ;Takes ownership, fosters a culture of ownership in support of the strategy and in line with Bayer's values; empowers others and drives peer accountability across portfolio deliverables and beyond;Evolves TSO's unique value contribution and thereby drives the development of a productive and fulfilled workforce by embracing a culture of creativity and innovation, while ensuring that capabilities are available and actively evolving.WHO YOU AREBayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:Required Qualifications:Must have one of the following: a) Medical doctor (MD or MD/PhD) or imaging scientist (PhD) trained in radiology, nuclear medicine, imaging physics or image analysis including some industry experience, OR b) a Master's degree trained in radiology, nuclear medicine, imaging physics or image analysis including more industry experience OR c) a Bachelors' degree trained in radiology, nuclear medicine, imaging physics or image analysis including significant industry experience; Proven track record of research and/or development (including oncology applications with emphasis on radiological and /or PET/SPECT imaging and biomarker use);Experience with preclinical imaging in oncology drug development (PET, SPECT, CT, bioluminescence, MRI…) ;Thorough understanding of imaging and clinical development in oncology; including experience with regulatory framework for biomarkers, and use of imaging for registration of Oncology products. Experience interacting with imaging CROs;Outstanding scientific reputation as evidenced by multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and as speaker of conferences and strong network in the academic and clinical community of imaging specialties; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (fluency in English, oral and written). Preferred Qualifications:One of the following: a) Medical doctor (MD or MD/PhD) or imaging scientist (PhD) trained in radiology, nuclear medicine, imaging physics or image analysis including a minimum of 7 years industry experience, OR b) a Master's degree trained in radiology, nuclear medicine, imaging physics or image analysis including a minimum of 9 years industry experience, OR c) a Bachelor's degree trained in radiology, nuclear medicine, imaging physics or image analysis including a minimum of 11 years industry experience;Strong network in the academic and clinical community of Oncology.YOUR APPLICATIONBayer offers a wide variety of competitive compensation and benefits programs.
