Job Summary: The Dispatcher schedules drivers, assigns routes and resources such as vehicles and equipment, to efficiently manage traffic in operations. This position is responsible for internal and external customer communications, TMW entry and audit functions.Essential Job Functions:Schedulesdrivers for pick-up and delivery; selects most efficient routes for each driverAnticipates weather complications along routes and at the drivers destinations; communicates delays and route changes as necessary.Monitors drivers working hours to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulationsMaintains phone contact with drivers and customersAnswer the phone in a professional mannerCommunicates to drivers load estimated time of completionCorrectly, accurately and timely enters load information into transportation management software (TMW) and sends trips to drivers over Peoplenet when applicableEnsures customer destination assignments are met, communicates varianceCreate and correctly communicate daily reports at shift change and to managementAudits prior day loads, compares to load assignments, and communicates deviations, internally and externallyEnsures drivers are following load assignments to local destinationsRepairs error listing in TMW for billing and payroll and communicates corrections to respective departmentsReports producer and customer inquiries promptly to managementOther related duties as assignedQualifications:Required:High School Diploma or equivalentValid Driver's license in state of residency with acceptable driving recordMust be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and submit to the company random drug and alcohol programProficient in basic computer skills, Microsoft Office suite and Google WorkspaceCommunicate effectively and professionally with all levels of internal and external staffManage multiple tasks independently to meet deadlinesAbility to adapt to changing schedules and prioritiesAbility to work any schedule including nights, weekends, and holidaysStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsPreferred:Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA regulations or the transportation industryEntry level knowledge of TMW softwarePhysical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential function of this job. This is mostly a sedentary office classification, although standing in outdoor work areas and walking between terminal, safety lane, and commercial motor vehicles (CMV) operating areas for short periods can be necessary. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator, and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach push and pull. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 20 pounds.Work Environment: The duties of this job are performed in both an office environment, a commercial motor vehicle terminal environment, and outdoors, thereby experiencing some minor to moderate level of noise due to office/CMV equipment.
