Mohawk is currently seeking qualified individuals to work night shifts in our Dispatch Center! Full-time pay starting at $19.29 per hour (effective once cleared from training. Training rate $16.62 per hour). Essential Functions: The following is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities for this position. As with all Mohawk staff Dispatchers may be asked to do other related work as required in support of the broader mission and objectives of the company. Under general or administrative supervision, and acting independently, with other counterparts in the same role, this position is responsible for:
- Receiving and prioritizing emergency and non-emergency telephone and two-way radio calls from: the public, 911 call centers (PSAP-Public Safety Answering Points), healthcare facilities, hospitals and company employees.
- Interacting with callers and clients who are requesting emergency transportation, non-emergency transportation and general information; via telephone, two-way radio systems or other mediums.
- Using established protocols along with the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system to evaluate the situation and take the appropriate actions.
- Obtaining all needed information from caller, enter the information in the CAD and transmit necessary information to the units responding.
- Evaluating incoming calls to determine appropriate level of Ambulance or Ambulette service required.
- Monitoring the location and status of Company vehicles using GPS tracking and CAD software.
- Dispatching of ambulances and monitoring of company operations regarding allocation of ambulances
- Giving help to field units when needed
- Transmitting information and messages upon request according to established procedures.
- Inspecting equipment at beginning of each shift to ensure proper operation; reporting any issues or malfunctions.
- Promoting a culture of professionalism and safety for all employees, patients, and stakeholders by adhering to workplace safety policies; observe, correct, and report safety concerns and deficiencies to the Communications Supervisors and/or Operations Coordinator.
- Adhering to company, regional, state and federal policies while performing any/all work.
Please note that this is not a 911 emergency call center dispatching position. Qualifications:
- Have the ability to actively listen and communicate effectively, with the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both verbally and written.
- Be proficient with computers and type a minimum of 25 WPM.
- High School Diploma or GED
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift, carry and balance up to 15 pounds.
