Purpose:

The Dispatcher will partner with the NHT team and customers by ensuring all trucks are scheduled and dispatched in a timely and efficient manner. This position will take responsibility for providing accurate information to each customer and driver for all loads dispatched and will ensure that all requests for information will be answered in a timely manner. The Dispatcher will be in complete support of and willing adherence to NHT's mission, vision and core values and hold these standards as his/her own.

Responsibilities / Essential Functions:

· Create daily dispatch schedules for all available drivers taking Hours of Service rules and regulations into account.

· Deploy NHT Logistics' resources to ensure all customer needs are met or exceeded.

· Be aware of daily and weekly capacity to ensure NHT resources are utilized effectively.

· Proactively work with Business Development to fill current lanes and build new ones.

· Establish and maintain good relationships with drivers and customers.

· Effectively communicate with customers and drivers in a timely, professional and complete manner.

· Coordinate with the NHT Warehouse on available trailers for future loads.

· Coordinate with the Shop Manager to ensure equipment availability for scheduled maintenance and repairs.

· Coordinate with 2nd Shift on all cross-dock freight transfers needed for next day deliveries.

· Work with team members across the organization to resolve operational challenges.

· Be in rotation to field after-hours phone calls.

· Complete other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

· A valid CDL preferred

· High School Diploma, or GED/equivalent experience

· Knowledge of truck driving and dispatching.

· Previous brokerage experience a plus.

· Experience with route planning.

· Ability to tactically plan loads 1-3 days in advance.

· Proficiency in intermediate computer skills, including spreadsheets, MS Office, e-email, and internet use.

Physical Requirements / Environmental Conditions:

The Dispatcher may have to spend long hours sitting and/or using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain. This position may have to manage multiple projects at one time and may find the environment to be busy, noisy and will need excellent organizational and time/stress management skills to complete the required tasks. The Dispatcher may also have to do some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.

Work Hours: Varies

Travel: 5% as this position may require occasional visits to local customers.
