Job DescriptionCoordinates all driver/spotter activities on a daily basis. Routes store orders for delivery and balancing loads while accommodating the needs of the Distribution Centers and the stores. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Accountable and Reports to: Transportation and Operations Distribution Management * Review store orders utilizing CAM's/Prospero software to sequence the orders in the most economical delivery route * Maximize trailer capacity within prescribed delivery windows * Generate reports which contain shipping weight, pieces and cube, hazard manifests, and balance loads to accommodate store needs * Releases the orders for the appropriate warehouse in a timely manner * Plans the delivery of off pallets, post bills and Bulk distributions * Helps direct activities on the dock by assisting in coordinating warehouse paperwork with the staff and communicates with dispatch as necessary (Bldg. K, FFC & A) * Directs and coordinates spotting drivers' activities using PINC yard management software (Bldg. K, FFC & A) * Schedule drivers by shift as needed to meet our shipping needs, meet our delivery schedules and inbound product from our vendor community for all commodities * Schedule outbound routes for mileage third party stores * Balance the work efficiently to best utilize drivers and meet DOT compliance * Co-ordinate driver/tractor pairings to best utilize the equipment available using CAM's and Qualcomm * Enter all scheduled work into our Dispatching system for proper identification of work shipped SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS: (These are considered occasional in nature) * Performs other functions as assigned by management SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB: * Duties may be performed at a variety of locations * Must be available to work flexible or unusual hours as needed, including weekends. Must be able to work with minimum supervision and possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail. * Basic computer skills required * Strong telephone skills with the ability to interact with and give directions to drivers * Possess good oral and written communication skills, both with co-workers and over the telephone with outside and company personnel. * Possess good math skills and figure aptitude. * Possess good typing//keyboarding skills and other basic clerical skills WORKING CONDITIONS: * Work will be performed under normal office working conditions in a temperature controlled environment and on occasion incumbent will be exposed to fluctuation in temperature (depending on building environment) * Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal. * Both the Router and 2nd desk Dispatcher jobs require periodic standing and walking EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM JOB: * Position requires use of calculators, personal computers, telephones, printers and other office equipment. - Routes store orders utilizing Prospero software to sequence orders in an optimal manner that reduces trips, stops, and miles
- Achieve a 98% or greater on-time delivery goal by planning stops in accordance with their delivery windows
- Maximize trailer capacity within the prescribed cube limits to achieve the quarterly cube goal
- Generate reports which contain shipping weight, pieces and cube, and balance loads to accommodate store needs
- Releases the orders for the appropriate warehouse in a timely manner
- Plans the delivery of off pallets, post bills and Bulk distributions
- Helps direct activities on the dock by assisting in coordinating warehouse paperwork with the staff and communicates with dispatch as necessary
- Directs and coordinates spotting drivers' activities using yard management software
- Performs other functions as assigned by management
