  • Coordinate the dispensing of all instruments and supplies from the Specialty Clinic dispensary.
  • Order supplies for the Special Clinics dispensary; process necessary paperwork for payment and maintain supply records for Faculty Practice; track inventory and restock as needed.
  • Coordinate delivery of instruments to all specialty clinics with sterilization team as needed.
  • Monitor adherence to infection control policies and procedures among clinic students, residents and faculty.
  • Schedule patient appointment at chairside as needed.
  • Assist students and faculty with taking digital radiographs as needed.
  • Perform chairside duties to include fourhanded dentistry in assigned pre-doctoral clinic areas as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Specialty Clinic Manager
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of:
  • Dental materials and their use.
  • Dental instruments.
  • Infection control protocol and requirements.
  • Emergency procedures including CPR.
  • Chairside dental assisting.
  • Dental terminology and treatments.
Experience:
  • Minimum of one year dental assisting experience in a group practice or dental school setting.
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current California x-ray license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current RDA license.
Working Conditions
  • Position is full-time, five (5) days per week, seven and one-half (7.5) hours per day.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.
  • Occupation exposure to bloodborne pathogens may reasonably be anticipated. Personal protective equipment will be provided to reduce or eliminate exposure to routine or limited infectious agents.

  • Recognize and set-up dental instruments.
  • Effectively provide assistance to staff, students, and faculty.
  • Perform chairside assisting duties when necessary in all assigned roles.

  • Apply patient management and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative and sound judgment in fast paced environment.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Utilize clinic management system.
  • Maintain and utilize equipment, instruments and supplies.
  • Maintain records neatly, legibly and accurately.
  • Work effectively with a flexible chain of supervision.
  • Work independently or as part of a team.
  • Index and alphabetize accurately.

  • Requires standing the majority of working hours.
  • Occasional reaching and bending.
  • Frequent handling of instruments require incumbent to possess sufficient motor function to execute movements essential to providing oral health care to patient.
