Distillation OperatorSummary/Objective:

The Distillation Operator is responsible for the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of distillation and processing equipment used in the production of citrus oils and related products

This role ensures the efficient and safe running of the distillation process while adhering to quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain distillation and reaction process equipment to achieve production goals.

Perform charging of stills and ensure proper plumbing lineups using hoses, hard lines, and fittings.

Package citrus oils into drums, pails, and gallon containers using various methods.

Sample and label distillation cuts for analysis.

Conduct gas chromatography (GC) analysis on distillation cuts and in-process samples.

Make process adjustments based on analysis and run conditions.

Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.

Operate forklifts for moving drum and pail pallets and use drum pickers as required.

Work Environment:

Work conditions may involve exposure to hot environments and require attention to safety protocols at all times.

Physical Demands:

Regularly lift up to 50 lbs

Frequent bending, stooping, stretching, reaching, and crouching.

Periods of standing for moderate durations.

Qualifications:

Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with distillation equipment.

Experience or background in mechanics, such as auto mechanics or maintenance technicians, is highly valued.

Candidates with repetitive machine operation experience may find the complexity of this role challenging.

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of GMP/HACCP/Food Safety Standards.

Forklift certification is a plus.

Basic understanding of gas chromatography (GC) or willingness to learn.
