Under the supervision of the distillery manager, the distillery operator will be responsible for assisting the distillery operator team lead with all functions of the distillation process, running daily samples of essential oil during harvest, running test cooks throughout the year, as well as the daily cleaning and maintenance of the lab and its equipment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a laptop, desktop, smartphone, photocopiers, shredders, and filing cabinets. There is also heavy machinery and high-pressure boilers in the daily work environment. The work also involves moderate risk or discomforts requiring special safety precautions. The role involves working around moving parts and machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be intense at times. The role requires the use of personal protective equipment, OSHA safety gear, and appropriate clothing. Essential oils are worn and/or diffused in the work environment.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use manual dexterity to handle, feel, and operate objects, tools and controls, and reach with hands and arms. This individual is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to type, file and lift office supplies, as well as containers with oil up to 60 pounds. The employee must be physically able to tolerate the scent of essential oils worn or diffused. The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities.* RequirementsThis position is classified as safety-sensitive, meaning that it involves duties where impairment could result in a significant risk to the safety and health of employees, customers, or the public. As a result, candidates for this role may be subject to pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing, background checks, and other compliance requirements in accordance with company policy and applicable laws. These positions may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the completion of mandatory safety training. Ensuring a safe work environment is a top priority, and adherence to all safety protocols and regulations is mandatory.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis position requires shift work. The regular schedule is from 7 am - 3:30 pm with a thirty-minute lunch. During spring and summer this position may be required to work longer than regular schedule. Regular schedule may change occasionally to accommodate weather, and operational deadlines/goals. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.Required Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent and three to twelve months of related experience.
