Position Summary: A global leader in the industrial thermoplastic & rubber markets has an exciting opening for a Distribution Center Manager for their brand-new facility in Harrisburg, PA.
This client is a nationally known manufacturer and distributor of high-quality industrial products. They serve markets including but not limited to Agriculture, Chemical, Construction, Fire Fighting, Food Processing, Manufacturing, Mining, O&G, and Transportation.
This role will report to the Director of Operations and oversee all distribution functions, including order processing, picking, packaging, shipping, and receiving. This role will also monitor inventory levels to ensure sufficient levels to fulfill all orders and balance workloads as needed to achieve production and delivery goals for each shift. This role will also manage warehouse operations with appropriate staffing and coaching needs.
The Distribution Center Manager will be responsible for 10 employees in a warehouse space of 100k sq ft with 7 million dollars of inventory.
Absolute Minimum Must Have's / Experience / Requirements:
- Education: HS Diploma required, Bachelor's degree preferred
- Relevant Industry and Discipline/ Role Experience: 5 plus years in a management role in an industrial warehouse and distribution setting at a 75k+ sq ft warehouse with a minimum of $5M in inventory (Upfitting experience preferred)
- Experience in Warehouse Design/Layout including racking layout for optimization
- Experience with multiple direct reports
- A background moving truckloads both inbound and outbound in various shipping methods (small package, LTL, FTL)
- Heavy experience in zone and picking as well as familiarity with conveyance systems.
- Proficiency in MS Project, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Windows
- Knowledge in Oracle preferred
- Requires teamwork ability; works well with others and communicates effectively with all associates.
- Requires the ability to train and coach others for success
Responsibilities:
- Plans, budgets, and schedules facilities operations for efficiencies.
- Utilize software, data and analytics to optimize operations, track metrics and anticipate and resolve problems.
- Provide the necessary equipment, tools and training to staff to ensure safe, secure and efficient operations.
- Organizing and coordinating staff and inventory to ensure efficiencies are met.
- Analyzing data to assess performance, discover logistical problems and devise plans for improvements.
- Establish warehouse KPIs for shipping/ receiving including but not limited to-order fill, order errors, offloading containers, and cycle counting.
- Evaluate and select transportation/freight services, negotiate contracts and manage vendor relations.
- Responsible for facility safety compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Performs quarterly safety audits at facilities to ensure compliance and record keeping.
- Ensure that all project and department goals are met and adhere to approved budgets.
- Monthly, monitor and publish reports of warehouse KPI's.
- Conducts regular staff meetings to ensure that goals and objectives are clearly communicated with staff; provides guidance and leadership to enable staff to meet these goals and objectives.
- Identifies training needs and opportunities; develops and implements a plan for meeting those needs.
- Maintains and develops positive relationships with existing and prospective clients, demonstrating excellent customer service and setting an example for other staff.
- Collaborates with other branch and district managers to set reasonable operational goals.
