Role Overview:
CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) CLA Search has been retained by a Household Cleaner Manufacturer in the Woodridge, IL area to identify a Distribution Center Manager to serve their team. Our client began producing Windshield Washer Solvent for local service stations and parts houses. The founder instilled a commitment to quality, service, and value in the operation, and in time, the company became known as the premier packager of Windshield Washer Solvent in the Midwest. Within 8 months of opening, the company expanded its product line to include Pool Shock, which complemented its seasonal Windshield Washer Solvent.
The Director of Supply Chain Management requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in process efficiency, lean Six Sigma methodologies, advanced Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and exceptional organizational skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strategic approach to multi-site operations, driving continuous improvement and maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, timeliness, and safety.
What You'll Do:
- Strategically oversee daily operations across multiple distribution centers, ensuring efficient management of resources, workflow, and inventory. Employ exceptional organizational skills to coordinate activities, optimize space utilization, and streamline processes.
- Utilize lean Six Sigma principles to lead process improvement initiatives, reduce waste, and improve efficiency across all locations. Apply a structured, data-driven approach to identifying bottlenecks and implementing sustainable improvements.
- Oversee WMS functionality to ensure optimal system performance, inventory accuracy, and seamless order fulfillment. Provide training and establish best practices to maximize team proficiency and system effectiveness.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team, emphasizing accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. Leverage strong organizational skills to set clear objectives, manage priorities, and provide timely feedback to align team efforts with organizational goals.
- Maintain rigorous standards for inventory management and product handling, implementing quality assurance processes to minimize errors and meet accuracy benchmarks. Strong organizational and planning skills are essential for ensuring accuracy and maintaining quality control across multiple locations.
- Enforce compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards, fostering a safe and compliant work environment through structured policies and regular audits.
- Work closely with procurement, logistics, transportation, and customer service teams to enhance workflow and align operational strategies. Utilize effective organizational skills to streamline communication and support organizational objectives.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in distribution center or warehouse management, including multi-site operational oversight
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) is highly preferred
- Proven proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), with experience in implementation or optimization
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skill
- Outstanding leadership and communication abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, for reporting and data analysis.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and integration with WMS solutions preferred
- Strong budget management and cost control experience within a distribution environment preferred
