Job Description :
The Media Services Specialist performs a variety of professional and technical support services for the District's Communications and Media Services Department including graphic design and layout, website development and design, proofreading, and technical research. Unclassified - $42,000MAJOR FUNCTION: Oversee the functionality of the website and mobile app, evaluate and manage websiteand mobile app performance, ensure accessibility and translation tools; and develop, maintain and updatewebsite and mobile app content. Collaborate with department and school website content managers toensure consistency in brand identity and design elements across all webpages. Provide a variety ofprofessional and technical support services that include poster making, lamination, graphic design, andbranding projects. Promote the District's goal of providing Opportunity, promoting Unity, and celebratingExcellence through the website, the public access channel, and social media.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Employee must have the ability to perform the following essentialfunctions on a timely basis with or without reasonable accommodations.1. Plan, implement, manage, monitor and upgrade the organization's website2. Align the website with the organization's brand, strategy and standards3. Oversee the functionality of the website4. Evaluate and manage website performance5. Maintain and update website content6. Maintain ADA accessible design and compliance with ADA regulations7. Maintain and optimize website translation tools8. Ensure and maintain search engine optimization9. Conduct content audits and prepare web traffic metric, ADA compliance, and other reports10. Create strategies to grow subscriber base and web traffic metrics11. Collaborate across departments to ensure that the website aligns with brand strategy meets theorganization's standards12. Provide professional development to school and department website content managers13. Keep up-to-date with industry best practices14. Ensure full compliance on the website with all laws and regulations15. Implement security measures to protect website16. Manage pay-per-click and search engine optimization campaigns17. Identify ways to improve website user experience18. Reply to, troubleshoot and resolve website issues19. Assist with campaigns and other marketing efforts20. Complete tests to ensure website efficiency and quality21. Coordinate the creation of professional layouts and digital content for marketing materials, publications,and presentations (e.g. District electronic publications, calendars, course guides, flyers, etc.)22. Manage end-to-end digital projects23. Liaise with the Director of Communications and Manager of Media Services regarding content toensure brand consistency24. Maintain current knowledge of relevant software, technology, materials, equipment, and techniquesassociated with area of expertise25. Utilize computer graphic programs to design layouts and illustrate brochures, flyers, publications,reports, forms, maps, and public presentations26. Provide poster-making services to schools and departments27. Provide lamination services to schools and departments28. Manage the District's public access channel29. Provide support for special projects and programs (i.e. Brand Ambassadors)30. Assume any duties assigned by the Director of Communications and/or a department administratordesigneeADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: In addition to the foregoing essential job functions, the employee isrequired to perform the following additional duties, unless such a duty cannot be performed with orwithout reasonable accommodation.1. Other duties as may be assigned.QUALIFICATIONS: To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform eachprimary duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels ofeducational achievement, training, skills, and/or ability necessary.1. A degree in computer science, IT, systems engineering, or related qualification2. Two (2) years of work experience as a website manager or equivalent3. Working knowledge of Adobe Suite, InDesign, Google Workspace/Suite, Microsoft Office, and otherproductivity applications4. Demonstrated knowledge of Apple/Mac computers and laptops5. Meticulous attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills, good content creation, good designskills and good writing skills6. Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and manage several assignmentssimultaneously7. Ability to manage projects from conception to completion, which includes planning projects, assessingrisks and opportunities, creating budgets, communicating with stakeholders, troubleshooting problems,etc.8. Ability to be self-directed and to complete essential tasks without direct supervision or oversight9. Strong verbal and written communication skills10. Knowledge of website development applications and protocols11. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle highly sensitive and confidential information whileproviding exceptional customer service12.
