Individuals that possess the special qualities required to lead a group of staff and children in their desired age range. Division leaders must have exceptional organizational skills, exemplary time management, the ability to work with large groups of both children and staff, and the keen ability to be a leader at all times. It is the division leader's responsibility to map out the direction their group's summer will take, by planning everything from daily activities for children to planning and running staff meetings with their counselors in appropriate areas related to camp.

This position entails supervising a group of staff from 10-25 personnel and a group of campers varying from 60-140 (depending on the division). A division leader's main responsibility is to supervise staff and the programs that they have instituted for the summer.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to recognize and respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
  • Ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate policies and procedures.
  • The physical ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related skills.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Also required to climb, push, and pull. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work both in an outside and inside environment, in different temperature extremes.
  • Ability and willingness to get in the swimming pool and beach to supervise during swimming times.
