About the job Dog Heartworm Technician (Volunteer/Unpaid, 5 hrs/week) Dog Heartworm Technician (Volunteer/Unpaid, 5 hrs/week)We are looking for a dedicated Dog Heartworm Technician to help oversee heartworm treatment and prevention protocols within our rescue. In this role, you will coordinate treatment schedules, track medication administration, and communicate with fosters and medical staff to ensure each dog receives the necessary care. This position requires attention to detail, a basic understanding of veterinary care, and clear communication skills. The role is mostly remote but has on-location veterinary duties, requiring five hours per week, with flexible hours.Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain heartworm treatment schedules for affected dogs.
- Coordinate with fosters to ensure timely medication administration and care.
- Document treatments and monitor for follow-up needs.
- Communicate regularly with medical and foster teams for seamless coordination.
Expectations:
- Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
- Effective communication with fosters and team members.
- Ability to work independently and commit to 5 hours weekly.
- Basic understanding of heartworm prevention and treatment is a plus.
