Job Description:

Essential Duties:

The Domain/Email Engineer is responsible managing network domain configurations, email systems, and ensuring email communications remain secure, efficient and reliable.

The Network Domain/Email Engineer assists in the administrative, technical and planning direction for OSPS' technology needs and works with considerable independence, exercising professional judgment under the general supervision of the Chief Information Officer.

Functions Include:

Creates and manages user email account authentications, groups, distribution lists, permissions, and aliases

Oversees and implements email security practices, including anti-phishing, anti-spam and data loss prevention measures.

Set up and maintain email protocols (SMTP, IMAP, POP3) and ensure secure email transmission with encryption (TLS/SSL).

Manage domain name registration and renewals, including liaising with domain registrars.

Ensures secure domain management practices, such as enforcing multi-factor authentication (MFA), DNSSEC, and other network security measures to protect domain assets.

Troubleshoot and resolve domain-related issues, ensuring proper routing and connectivity for email and web services.

Assists with installation and maintenance of all servers and network equipment within the OSPS network.

Assist the CIO in the planning, development, and implementation of the Office's technology needs including planning, directing, and executing IT operations, information security, and enterprise architecture.

Provides technical support and guidance to end-users and internal teams, ensuring effective resolution of issues.

Participate in on-call rotation.

Travel to local OSPS sites to provide scheduled network maintenance, address outstanding concerns, and aid with project implementations and consulting when appropriate.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field from an accredited university or equivalent experience.

Four years of progressively responsible experience in a public or private organization.

Two years of hands-on experience in email system administration or domain management or related field.

A valid Illinois Driver's License, safe driving record and proof of automobile insurance to operate a personal vehicle on state business, as well as maintain a safe driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's Degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field.

Eight years of progressively responsible experience in a public or private organization.

Four years of hands-on experience in Network Engineering or related field.

Relevant Networking and/or Cloud Certification (CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Exchange Server, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Azure fundamentals, etc.)
