Under this program, The South Shore Resource and Advocacy Center Advocate will provide comprehensive advocacy to survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, .and/or stalking The advocate must have a comprehensive knowledge of both Trauma informed and empowerment model. This position is a 40 hour center based position. High Point & Affiliated Organizations is a health and human service agency whose mission is to treat and prevent substance use disorders and mental illness. High Point has programs located throughout Southeastern Massachusetts offering a full continuum of care for substance use and mental health treatment, including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based services. Programs and services also assist survivors of abuse, violence, and families experiencing homelessness. High Point believes that everyone has inherent goodness, worth, and dignity. Our goal is to help individuals and families achieve personal change and improve their quality of life.Advocate Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide support, advocacy, referral, and case management services to domestic violence survivors
  • Work with survivors to create, implement, and update individual safety plan
  • Assist survivors in emergency situations to obtain emergency safe home, shelter, financial assistance, and other basic needs
  • Work with program staff to facilitate weekly support group sessions
  • Maintain accurate files, progress notes, data entry, submit timely monthly reports and paperwork to meet contract requirements,
  • Assist clients with resources and referrals to other providers within the community.
  • Assist survivors with accessing other services (job training, counseling, housing, medical services, etc.);
  • Network with other providers to help survivors access community resources
  • Work with survivors to create, implement, monitor, and update individual safety plan
  • Assist survivors in emergency situations to obtain shelter, financial assistance, and other basic needs
Advocate Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment•Bachelor's degree in human services, social work, or related field
  • Minimum two years paid working with survivors of Domestic Violence
  • Completion of a minimum of 24 hours of training in domestic violence training
  • Demonstrated track record in advocacy, with ability to navigate multiple systems to ensure seamless services. Demonstrated respect for others' experiences, opinions, language, values, culture, and knowledge
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations
  • Ability to navigate and handle complicated situations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contributing factors to gender based violence and its impact on survivors.
